Pointless confirmation prompts

So I came to this realization today (well because it finally annoyed me) that this game has a fetish for annoying confirmation prompts that shouldn't even really be there.

Such as today when I was doing the "Keeper of the Lake" dungeon. In the second monster run-through with the imperial and colossi there are those force field gates. Now when you click on that gate its like "Are you sure?" and considering you have to kill all the enemies, and then pick up a dropped item, plus the linear design of the dungeon. Why else WOULD I click that? It is necessary to even progress.

I saw Yoshi-P's comment about it for NPC transaction events and slightly understand his reason for it. But for all these other things, it just seems utterly pointless. Is this a weird homage to 1.0 and its 1000 confirmation prompts?

I'm just confused as to why developers waste their time adding this extra pointless step to linear things. Sure its not going to kill me to click them, but I'd really prefer not to have to if its not even necessary.
