Australian Servers

Hello Devs and SE.

I'd like to pitch the idea that you consider opening servers here in Australia for those of us in Australia, New Zealand, PNG, Indonesia and other island nations close to our area to take advantage of, without having to worry about the latency issues of getting our data routed down from Japan or Canada (and soon the EU).

SE's opened servers in Sydney for its free to play MOBA Nosgoth, so would it be much harder to open a server cluster for FFXIV: ARR?

It would also bolster the faith of SE customers and perhaps attract even more customers, at least that's how I see it.

I'd be afraid of seeing your queue times. They'd give you your own region, sure, but it'd cut your pool drastically.

Doubtful, although I share your pain, being Australian too. SE probably regards the JP server group as being close enough to us to use so most likely a Oceanic/South East Asian server group most likely just isn't worth the added expenditure. And as Nadirah said, the pool of potential players would be far lower than the JP/US and soon to be opened EU server groups - that's just being realistic.

Anything is possible though.
