PS3 controller issue

I'm on the Playstation 3 and have never had this issue before. I played only a week ago and everything worked fine.

I log in today and update and as things move to the title screen, I find my controller is no longer responsive.

I can open the PS menu and navigate it just fine and have no issues in the actual launcher itself. When I reconnect the controller there seems to be moments of life but it is short lived.

I can't help but feel it's a bug related to the updated I just installed. Anyone else having this issue?
