It was a really great feature that I still can't fathom warranting removal. It's not like there's anything special about the default font in ARR - it's practically Calibri, and I've had a couple friends with dyslexia tell me it can be hard to read.
And we can't do this anymore for laughs:

To be honest, I never understood why 1.0 even had that feature, as a lot of fonts did not display properly in the game, which is probably why such a feature was not included in ARR.
Having said that, I'd love it if ARR eventually gains the ability to switch the font to 1.0's font (along with changing the GUI art style to 1.0's style, while still retaining ARR's GUI functionality), as I actually miss the old 1.0 interface style (I definitely don't miss it's lack of functionality though - stupid FFXI-holdover slide out menu! That thoroughly deserves it's banishment to the Void!). :p
