Patience about new job info and the conclusions to draw from it.

After seeing so many threads I felt this should be mentioned.

We don't know everything about every change announced in their nuances, and neither do we know all the changes to be made in total for each class. We've seen the veritable tip of the ice burg when it comes to class changes. Lets not jump to conclusions based on very basic and minimal information.

Not a single person here knows how the new classes will play. We don't even know how the stats will work. So let's hold our doom and gloom about what's to become of the classes until we know something more tangible. Not one person here knows how good or how bad any class will be in 3.0 based on what they told us. All we know is that it's different.

We can glean the direction certain Jobs are taking... (e.g. NIN will have *some* new positionals or SMN emphasis is still muddled between Egi/SMN).

We're entitled to our opinions on what we may glean from.

Having all the facts or a holistic knowledge isn't always necessary to express concern or discomfort with a design-direction.

Besides, it's always important to be ahead of the design-curve... there's a chance they could lift NIN's new positionals if enough people are unhappy with that idea.

That's a simple enough shift which could make it in come 3.05 or so.

Same with the Au Ra Benchmark... good example of how we should get our voices in sooner than later, just in case.

Making a new thread isn't going to change my distaste for adding positionals to a job I was happy with for having no positionals.

This is true, but the amount of outrage is extremely silly considering we got no numbers at all from any announcements or visuals, and key system mechanics have been altered (DoTs, Skill Speed, Spell Speed) which are likely to completely change everything even if we were getting no new abilities. Lets not even discuss the changes to existing skills and values. People are literally complaining just because.


Your class rotation is completely changing from lv 50-60? You mean just like it completely changed from 1-30, 30-40, and 40-50? Oh, okay. RIP classes.

Agreed, SE has no doubt spent a lot of time experimenting, testing, and developing all of this new content, knowing that it would have to exceed a certain standard to entice it's player base to buy the expansion. So much so that they delayed the expansion. They didn't just program a bunch of new abilities to each class and say "Let's see how this goes in 3.0." No doubt developers sat for hours and hours and days testing different things to find what felt right, and what felt fun.

Now of course, what they come up with isn't always exactly what we may have had in mind, but we aren't developers. In fact, I would hate that job. Having to sift through all of this hate after they showcased some very cool new things coming up, and trying to pull out something constructive from it seems exhausting. I'll wait for the expansion to come out, and get my hands on these new toys and try it our for myself. SE has created a beautiful, fun, engaging world that I've inhabited for well over a year, and I don't see it going anywhere any time soon.

As mentioned, you can glean at the direction classes are going with what they've shown. They can show me Bards shooting buses and trucks at mobs instead of arrows, but that's not going to change the fact they're trying to turn the job into a caster or marksmanship hunter. The mechanic has been known to work but I feel it would be better as a native mechanic to a third physical ranged DPS job (considering this is still sitting on the wasted assets bin, it's not outlandish by any means) instead of it being forced on BRD.

Likewise, NIN was introduced as a DPS job without positionals. Some people stuck to it because of that. You can call them scrubs if you want for preferring that over MNK and DRG, but it won't negate the fact that some people like that type of gameplay, and it shouldn't be taken away from them.

People voicing their concerns over these sort of things is not unexpected nor unfounded. Keep in mind that the BRD thread recently had a CM go in to clarify how the Wanderer's Minuet worked in reaction to those concerns, since the translation we were given was incorrect.

Sorry, in over 13 years of dealing with SE MMO development quirks, that is absolutely not how it goes. You can whine and cry and w/e all you want, but until they get hard data on the jobs from actual player use, they don't change anything. And even after they get data, it is not a sure thing any change will swiftly come through, if ever.

Example: FFXI job RDM-PPL clamored for years for the physical side of that job to get some love. SE only this year finally decided to relent and give in(better sword rating, access to the ex weaponskills, less spell cycling with duration increases in enfeeb/buffs, ext).

Yeah, nothing is ever 100%, but given their track record, it is HIGHLY unlikely the new positionals on NIN will get lifted before they are even implemented. And i say 'new' because we have positional currently and adding more isn't gonna suddenly tank the job.

You'll mostly encounter unfounded negativity and hyperbole online. It's why I don't visit these forums too often.
