Pet ground AoE issue, Developers pleaee shed some light, please

Okay I am running out of ideas to try and get an answer for this, so I am hoping the community might be able to help, and hopefully shed some light on why certain things are happening.

Okay so to start I made a bug report about my fairy taking damage in a place where I know she shouldn't, because said damage is from a ground AoE. Here is the post.

Well after that I noticed the thread was moved to the acting normal section. Thinking it was a one time thing I did the raid again, but same result, damage from a ground AoE. So I originally was going to ask on my original post, but I was "blocked" from doing so. So I made a new post to get a developers attention. Here is that post.

Well I now find that my post questioning my first post was moved as well, to the insufficient information section, but I gave all of the information in the first post? And again I am unable to edit or reply to my post.

Now I don't know if the editing/replying is because of something I did or just a rule for that part of the forum. But could someone help shed some light on these issues, if one truely exists, and why?

To sorta recap. I was in Labyrinth of the Ancients, and during the first boss, I noticed my fairy taking damage from the poison puddles. But since the puddles are a ground AoE they shouldn't take damage. And later in the raid they don't take damage from the electric floor, during the behemoth fight. This makes no sense to me, am I missing something?

When was it ever said that pets never take ground aoe damage?

They take reduced aoe damage, but the problem is there are many wonky exceptions. Do Keeper of The Lake and it's the greatest demonstration of an anti-pet environment, especially Midgarsormir.

I hate to break this to you, but pets take damage from certain things. They always have. Pets would be pretty OP if you didn't have to keep your eye on them and the Sustain spell would be pretty useless.

[EDIT] And I'm pretty sure the reason why pets take damage from the purple poison puddles in the beginning of LotA is because it's a mechanic of that section (your area to stand gets smaller kind of thing). It's not like a boss AoE, it's something that comes and goes throughout the fight and is part of the arena.

And I thought the lightning AoE in KB did do damage? Just not enough to noticed when Medica II is up on your pet. I've seen fairies healing their own butts in KB a lot.

Sustain is useless. I think I've used this ability on average twice per week for the last 3 months, and that's only because I'm lazy. I'd gone an entire year without using it.

As for the OP: Some ground attacks act as DOTS, such as the poison in CT and the Shadow Flare skill, pets are not immune to these, they are more like environmental rather than ground aoe. Ground aoe are attacks that hit once, when they explode usually like the noxious gas from T11, and the ground plumes in Ifrit Extreme, these deal pet damage.

I use Sustain pretty regularly. And I find it useful on SMN because your pet can't heal itself and your heals aren't that great, Sustain does about 1k on a SMN vs your Physic which is like 400-600 (and physic has a longer cast time and this takes more away from your DPS as a SMN). Sustain won't work very well if your pets already half dead or has some strong DoTs on them. But imo, it's not a skill to be underestimated as it does still have its uses.

The key words there are floor areas. This in no way means AoE. They mean such things as electrified floors and... hmm, there's probably more examples, but generally it means floors that do damage whether or not an enemy is directly involved. They still take damage from AoE, the the kinds of AoE differ. I believe in a farther back patch they fixed it so pets couldn't die from most instant kill AoE like King Behemoth's meteor or Amon's Curtain Call.

Sustain needs to be stronger for Smn, because Smn's pets can't heal themselves like Sch's pets. I thought the most important part of being a Smn is to keep your pet alive, but sustain is too weak; especially, when there are places like keeper of the lake that can destroy your pet.

The patch refers to things such as the floor in t7 and things like that, not ground-targetted aoes. Pets do take reduced damage from aoe damage to compensate for their lack of mobility.
