Kicking afk players=bad?

I will never find the words to express what i went through in that ST run yesterday.
I was tanking the whole dungeon since the other tanks were a bit undergeared and unexperienced well i never mind doing that since i play tank after all.

The problem was that there was this guy that just waited for us to start the fight then locked himself out willingly. I noticed him during the 1st boss but i just /care about it since maybe he had a problem. Then he was out again during Amon and he did the same for the last boss. Well, i let everyone know that i wasn't going to pull unless he comes in(and he joined a second after i said) and btw i got the hell of a rage afterwards for example "Queen tanks should be kicked"
I can't understand the mentality behind this behavior but i find it correct to kick someone that wants to act as an observer where many people are involved.

They aren't AFK they are mooching and I have kicked a member of my own alliance for that in WoD with a unanimous dismissal. The problem is how you handled it. By being the only tank truly capable of holding the line, to some when you refused to pull untill some one (Whom I'm assuming was in a different squad based on context) participated, you were viewed as holding THEM hostage and potentially costing them loot.

In my case the deserter was in my own squad and we handled it with out mentioning it to the other two squads as it was "B-Squad Business". But even then if you'd have said anything to us or acted like that from A or C squad I would have had a problem with the A/C Squad tank getting in B-Squad Business regardless of the fact we were going to kick him. Next time try talking with their squad (There's always a de-facto "Squad Leader" in a group) and see whats up. Maybe there was a valid reason he couldn't participate at that moment but would have made it difficult for the squad if he left. You didn't know, you didn't ask, so you probably didn't care either. You were the one acting childish and the raid had a problem with your actions more than the AFKer.

So that was the source of that scenario. It had nothing to do with anything but basic cause and effect. You didn't seem to be bothered before then all of a sudden on the last boss you got pissy. I wouldn't have accepted that either to be honest.

I always kick people when they decide to sit out multiple battles. Haven't been grinding WoD as much as I used to, but it was really bad in there before. Every run people going afk half way through.

That's a leecher and they should be kicked. I honestly think leeching is worse than a lot of reasons people get kicked so i never understand why some people tolerate it. If i do a raid i don't care how easy it is i want to see everyone doing their part and not people refusing to take part in anything beyond rolling on loot. If you get kicked from a dumb group like that no big deal. Would rather queue again and start over than be stuck carrying leechers in a toxic group.

Except that you will get a strike against your account for harassment that way.

Uhm, no, you won't. Rejoining a duty you were kicked from is not harassment. It's not like you can choose which group to join, you don't even know if it's really the same group until you enter.

Saying "im back :)" does not "provide proof that you intend Illwill". None whatsoever.

Purposely rejoining an instance after being kicked can be considered harrassment if you come back saying this. It provides written proof to the GM team that you intend Illwill and can easily get you a strike.

You would be surprised. It all depends on the other players report against you, but rejoining a group you were kicked from never will end well. It provides evidence against you and I'm sure the GMs are fully aware of the sarcasm :wink wink winky face:

Because you canNOT select which group you are joining when applying via DF, this alone canNOT be considered as any form of harassment. Obviously GMs are fully aware you cannot do anything but being where DF decide you will have to be.

Go ahead and surprise me then, show me ONE case where somebody received disciplinary action against their account for rejoining a duty in progress and saying "im back :)".

Until you do, I'll stick to what I said; the example you gave is in no way, shape or form harassment - and GMs, whether they are fully aware of sarcasm or not, can not go ahead and willy-nilly ban people for what their sarcasm detector/gut tells them. If the rejoining person said something obvious like "Hah you can't get rid of me so easily, scrubs", then maybe they could get in trouble for it, but not for a simple "im back :)". As long as you are nice on the surface, it does not matter what you really think, or what GMs think that your underlying meaning may be. They only have your text to go by and can't punish people for intentions they may or may not have had.
