Not too fond of the gun main weapon for Mechanic...

When I first heard of the mechanic job in the new patch, my heart kinda lept at the prospect of having a techno-like steam/punk-like job class... but then I found out the main weapon is a gun? I'm personally not fond of guns honestly... I feel that would have been better for a separate class under the job Gunner or sharpshooter, etc... something that specialized in firearms specifically. In my mind I see a mechanic using like a wrench for their main weapon and having robot minions doing most of the attacking, or even being in a giant mecha shooting lazers, etc. ( Though one could argue that last one kinda went beside the point, I guess I view robots and guns separately, lol... maybe cause of that Iron Giant movie? XD) Who knows, maybe I'm just being picky. What do you guys think? Do you like the gun as the main weapon for mechanics?

I still hold out hope for MSK having those muskets you find around Limsa. I like what I hear about the robot turret though. They are Machinists so it sorta makes sense they work on those turrets.

Probably plays off the Machinist version of FFT.

its not the Mechanic job. Its called The Machinist. Completely different.

A firearm counts as a machine. While I would think it would be really cool to make said guns steam powered or whatnot, but a firearm would still count as a technical machine, especially in a fantasy world.

But it's not a "mechanic" it's a machinist", which, as previously mentioned, WAS a gun using class in Final Fantasy Tactics.

And even then Mechanics in something like Battlefield still carry around a gun alongside all their gadgets and toys.

Actually I was thinking of more in the lines of like Winry from Fullmetal Alchemist. :o For those correcting me in saying mechanic and not mechanist, sorry, probably was thinking of the new female Cid from Final Fantasy XV.... or something. :o

The Devs are in love with FFT and Ivalice lore. It's a huge possibility they derived their design decisions from there.

Mechanists have always been firearms users in the FF series. Also it makes perfect sense for the mechanical experts to be using a mechanically ingenious device for combat.
