My paladin is i122... with the new poetics cap it gives me the ability to get a weapon. I'm not done with atma books or anything like that. Would it be best to just give up on the relic and get the magitek sword or would relic be best. If I do the relic I won't be able to afford the good melds. Thanks
You don't need to spend a lot on melds. A three way split of acc/det/crit is a good way to go. It's up to you if you want to finish the relic at this point. Those that did finish it will get some consideration in the next relic quest in 3.0.
The Magitek sword isn't a bad way to go, in any case.
Unless you have a lot of time on your hands, I would suggest going for the poe sword, as well as the shield if you have not already. You can still work on your relic if you wish, I personally an almost done with my dragoon one (and only one I'm doing) and didn't do the optimized meld for it, but only if you wish too.
The poetics weapon is like 3rd best in slot, and requires next to no effort relative to the zeta relic or coil weapon. It's still way more than adequate for anything currently in the game, and will see you plenty of the way into Heavensward before being replaced. Really, the only reason to complete the relic now is for vanity (which will be made easier in 3.0 anyway) or for bloody-minded completionism.
IW sword for sure at this point. You can always work on your relic after you get it.
