Second Lieutenant to own a home? ... Why?

I don't see why. It doesn't really make any sense, can you remove it? It is a needless requirement.

it is not that difficult to rank up with your grand company
and it helps keep land available albeit just a little
imagine if every noob with a wallet bought gil from the bots and rushed to get a home

Even worse is having to have max rank to switch GC's.

Had a friend pick the 'wrong one' before he knew how PVP worked... because SE enforces this silly GC restriction on PVP, we've been locked out from PVPing together a while.

We couldn't PVP for ages while he worked his way through all those ranks & seal grind.

It's plain awful, this GC restriction enforcement.

And how PVP Rank is tied to GC instead of to the character.

But yeah, GC rank restriction on Housing should not exist.

I max ranked in all Grand Companies for the minions. :D;;; And Achieves.. I'm a completionist! u_u

I understand the buying a plot part, but do I really need to max rank to buy a room in my FC house? What if I really just enjoy housing and want to decorate a room for my alt but don't want to go throught the story again?! I've already done it twice to feed my insatiable housing addiction...

Friend has an alt with a max level of 38 that has a FC room, so I am pretty confident that restriction doesn't actually exist for those.

That can't be right... the rank and level requirement applies to the private chambers as well. My alt can't get one... not 50 and not max GC level.

As to the ranking up in GC's to max rank, it takes just a couple of days of very casual play to get to the top.
The hardest party was the tedious task of running around for the hunt logs... tedious, not hard.
