Regarding RMT spam
Hello, I was trying to brainstorm a way to be able to enjoy the gaming experience with friends without all the annoying friend requests and tells we get from spammers. But staying on busy status most of the time can be quite annoying when no one can message you. So I was wondering if it would be possible that while you are in busy status to allow friends assigned to a friends group or at least a special group that can reach you regardless of whether youre busy or not. like just for close friends. That way you can still get tells when important friends message you and you block out the ever increasing tells and friend requests from the relentless RMT spammers.
I was able to ignore the tells by creating a separate chat window and it worked okay for a while. still annoying but not flooding my main chat long but when i have 6 pending friend requests from spammers and more coming in, there has to be some way to help alleviate these annoyances.

A solution for our problems would be a limitation for whispers/friendrequest for lvl 1 characters (maybe forbit them doing it under lvl 10 in one class). I also wonder, why names like "sellgil" or "cheapgil" are even allowed - noone except goldsellers would use it anyway...

This is a huge problem that SE has to address before 3.0 is out! There will be massive amounts of new players, like ones that can now play owning Macs. How will that play out when new players keep getting friend requests and accept then cause they don't know any better, then get spam in their mail. That will cause a lot of anger I am sure. The issue is how SE is dealing with rmt in the first place. Just banning them does no good. I have noticed a huge amount of new rmt joining lately. Every 1000 or more that are banned 5000 more join up.
They need anti bot and spammer software. I know that Trion developed their own for Rift and now Arche Age and it works pretty well. For now they need to both prevent new ones from getting in and instead of the blacklist option there should be a "report spam" option for both tells and for friend requests. This will give them a better tool to ban the ones already on. FF14 ARR is a great game that could be totally ruined for most normal players this has to be dealt with now!

The spammers literally ruin the game for me. I report everyone of them but they STILL come through even a day after. I think Square Enix's team is not devoted to solving this. It's been an issue for a long time and it hasn't gotten any better. It's almost cynical of me to think they don't care enough to do anything cause nothing has been done.

Or just have a way to ignore /tells and friend requests for characters and/or accounts under 7, 14, or 30 days old, and have a GM actually log in once a fortnight to took a look at the player list, and instaban bot names. Because if you don't report them yourself, they will never, ever know or care.

That's lovely, this is an every day problem, ontop of them ignoring RMT tell spams and the hordes of bots who always use the exact same spot to farm gil and automatically shoot the same target at the same time... To which they do not even take action... I'm starting to think square really does not give a crap about RMT.
