Can you guys here help with the benchmark?

First let me begin with saying sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place!

Now onto business (XD). I downloaded the benchmark yesterday onto a laptop because I just wanted to run character creation (I want to premake an Au Ra). Only thing is it is literally not running. I've unzipped the files, downloaded and installed directx11, uninstalled everything and tried again but the program just doesn't run.

The problem I am having is when I click on Character Creation I get a black screen with a loading symbol and after sometime a windows error message saying the program hasn't responded and they are trying to look for a solution.

I'm at a loss of what I can actually do.

Likely as not, you got some files corrupted on the download. The ratio seems higher than average. Between me and three other friends, two of us had to re-download the benchmark because it wouldn't unzip or run.

So this means I will have to try a third download? Damn well I suppose here goes nothing (shame it takes an hour for me as my internet well sucks)

I wasn't sure if you had downloaded again the benchmark (you only mention re-downloading directx11), but if you have and it still doesn't work, then I'm at a loss of solutions >_<

Sorry I should of been clearer I meant redownloaded the bench mark. I have run a diagnostic on directx11 and it says it is running fine.

I was relieved when I came here and saw OP posted my *exact* issue. Annoying that I need to re-download, but if it actually works then I'll take it as a simple solution.

Do you have a 64 bit OS? Need 64 bit OS to run directx11. Check out the requirements from the benchmark site:

If DirectX® 9.0c is not installed on your PC, please download and install it.
* Windows® 7 64-bit or higher is required to run the DirectX® 11 version, as are a compatible graphics card and the corresponding drivers. Please refer to your graphics card manual for further details.
* DirectX® 11 can be downloaded from the link provided above.

The DirectX11 Benchmark program itself is 64-bit. Also of note, it never uses more than 25% CPU on my quadcore, and never more than 1GB of ram so the GPU is probably going to be the bottleneck before the CPU's performance will.

Should still be able to run the DirectX9 version.
