Didn't get Breeding pass when I retired my Chocobo

My Chocobo was race rank 43, as I kept leveling him after I I reached 40 so I could get him a better ability to pass on. I didn't receive anything when I retired him and when I speak with the breeder he won't do anything for me. I bought a grade 9 covering pass for the female, but without a male I can't breed.

Thinking back, he had a seperate level rank effecting his stats and race rank. Although this distinction was never made clear by any npc if I needed to get a different rank to 40 from his race rank.

Is there any way I can get my Chocobo back or the breeding pass? There is no way I want to level a new Chocobo from scratch after everything with my old one being for nothing. So this confusion on the breeding and retiring of chocobos has ruined Chocobo racing for me completely and taken away one of the few reasons I still had to log on. The Chocobo was Swift Nexus for the Character Nexus Limitless on Balmung.

Rank 43 or rating 43? very different things...

If you choose the wrong one it gives a radio button you must checkmark to discard your bird. Bet you did that.

I don't recall any check marks or asking me if I wanted to keep it for breeding. From what I was hearing was I had to retire my chocobo to breed a new one. Didn't help that the chocobo race breeder isn't even at the gold saucer and wouldn't even recognize I ever had a chocobo when I tracked him down.

I haven't logged in ever since losing my chocobo. Progression wise in the game I have the upgraded magitek bow, 123 avg item level, beat extreme Shiva and all the primals many times. I have 3 trade skills up to lvl 50. Other than maybe one more story quest from the most recent patch, all I've really had content wise to beat was the last 2 missions in the second coil of bahamut and the last coil of bahamut, which are very stressful duties to try. I got over 40 triad cards, but grinding the same npcs over and over again to try getting rare cards has gotten old and no one wants to verse in triad anyways since usually one person has a huge edge in how many 2 or 3 star cards they can use compare to the other guy, making it uncompetive

Losing all those countless hours I put into my chocobo might of been the nail to cause me not to renew if I didn't already preorder the new expansion. However with me and my free company locked out of the housing system for joining the server late (Balmung) and the triad grind upward only making it less fun to play with others (as even if I got enough cards so I can use as many 3 stars as I want in my deck, nobody without a full 3 star+ deck will want to play me); I'll probably grind through the heavensward's main content, but feel losing my chocobo just highlights how pointless it is to spend so many hours grinding into something repetitive.

I still don't know why I didn't get a breeding pass, considering he was race rank 40 when I retired him and I never said I didn't want one. I was looking all over my inventory and talking to everyone in the chocobo area to see the next step in the breeding process. Only to realize I pretty much deleted millions in gil, hours spent and all my triad earningins in an instant, due to unclear directions or menus on how to breed.

The only thing I remember them asking me if I was sure about is my chocobo becoming gold saucer property if I retire him, I said yes expecting to get a breeding pass, but never did. Starting to regret that preorder, since this has been a very disappointing experience and only reason I was logging in is gone. I doubt a new race and class will change much, but guess I'll still check it out. Even though pretty much my full freecompany is mostly inactive now, with even the most motivated of us to earn the money to get us a free company house realizing there aren't any.

Is there any way to get a chocobo back retired or get the breeding pass I never received? Does this game really instruct people to pretty much delete their character with no hope of restoration before you advance your max level? My chocobo is just gone, nothing to show for it at all. The game should have it after you breed your chocobo, it retires or something. Having it you retire it first, so you're left with no chocobo or pass when its retired is really bad game design. Even if its not my main character, I feel as if my character got deleted. This has managed to ruin my ffxiv experience.

Sorry, but you really need to learn to read and not click through warnings blindly.

Also... "countless hours"? It takes MAYBE 10 hours to get to rank 40 and retire a bird. Rating 40 on a pedigree 1 is just about half that for the average player.

"Millions in gil"? Really? Feed is sold at a vendor at 1500 gil a pop, and you only need 39 per pedigree for more than ideal stats (just shy of 59k gil per bird). Investing in grade 2 from crafting is overkill, and anything better costs mgp and is further unnecessary.

Sorry, your fault this time. Blame the game, but it was your actions which caused your failure.

I only used grade 2 feed costing 35-40k each on the market (Which I bought purely with gil to make up for what I couldn't afford to feed him in grade 3 feed bought with mgp) and grade 3 feed costing 2750 mgp on my chocobo as well. Also even if they said he needs to be rank 40 to retire, as far as I knew he was and they were allowing me to retire him.

The terminology they use is really mixed up, if by rank they mean level and race rating has nothing to do with rank. The race rating is what people would naturally associate with rank, that they have 2 different levels, for different types of ranks and mix them up like that is bad design. The race rating is what decides your racing tier, that is rank. Rank doesn't refer to individual growth or strength, with how most would use the word. Rank is earned, which is what the race rating is. They make it incredibily easy to mix up by using mixed up terminology. Why can't they just say level 40? Nobody would mix that up with race rank or rating. This needs to be fixed.

Highly likely your bird was rank 26 or so, rating 43. The normal retire function doesn't come with a check box at all, and never mentions it becoming property of the Gold Saucer.

PS4 isn't an excuse for fatfingering an accept function.

Send a GM report. You can restore lost items, even a choco ownership certificate should apply...

...but when you do get it back, please be sure to reply back here with the rating and rank of the bird. I am still highly skeptical of your claims, considering your other exaggerations.

If you were right, I will gladly eat my own words and apologize...but another point to make is- why the hell would, you choose to retire so many extra races past rank 40? There is no way in existence to rank up more than once every race, and at rank 39 it will take 5+ races for the average player to achieve rank 40. A rating 39 bird, on the other hand, could easily become rating 43 from a single level-up.

Level and rank are the same thing. Both unlock potential for more stats and abilities.
Rating and "potential stats average" are the same thing. Which racess you are allowed to race in are based on how good your stats can be. Level would not make sense, considering the rating goes up to 300, but only for pedigree 9. People aren't confusing the two as much as you think.

And you... wasted your money regardless of intent. If you did even a modicum of research from other player experiences, you would know that food is worth jack squat in terms of breeding. Your bird's stats do not carry over to the next generation- the star value is intermixed with the bird you breed it with, which determines whether its potential rating will be higher for each level/rank gained. You really would have been just as successful racing with the 1.5k gil vendor food.

Then I was the right rank, actually 3 ranks higher than I needed to be. I was racing rank 43, doing so I could only participate in either the open or higher level races. So if the rank they go by is the rank which decides which races you can go in, then I was high enough rank. Why I didn't get a pedigree doesn't make sense.

I didn't realize he would learn a new ability if I made him forget his old one when he leveled up until he was already rank 40 and i was considering breeding him. I wanted to make sure I got him a good ability first. The first ability he had was choco silence, I made him forget it and he learned head start before I retired him. How do I contact a GM about something like this?

Isn't this forum for technical support? I would expect the game developers to see this, but if you know a more direct way to contact people who can help, it would be appreciated.
