Dragoon's Pet Wyverns

Am I the only one hoping that when they add Dragoon they give them pet wyverns like in FFXI? I would love that so much, thats what made me fall in love with Dragoon. I was thinking they could have the Dragoon guild in Ishgard and have the quest to unlock the job be where they ask you to go kill a dragon to prove yourself worthy and when you go to kill it you find an egg and it hatches in to your pet wyvern or something. Just an idea though, what are your ideas about the job? :)

Yoshida had mentioned one of the first jobs would be Dragon Knight, and also said pets wont be introduced till later on.

it was also mentioned that more than 1 job would be introduced per class later on, so most likely the Lancer's second job will be Dragoon.

Im hoping...

Dragon Knight - Has elemental dragon breaths with a cone shaped AOE..
- Thunder Breath
- Frost Breath
- Fire Breath

Dragoon - Has the pet Wyvern.

Lol ya and have it be like theyre making chocobos where you can equip armor onto your wyvern.

It's not sure Dragoon get a pet. Only in FF XI Dragoon got a pet, I think. In the other games he was with no pet

I could easily be mistaken but that lancer job that has been announced could end up being dragoon. Or they're not doing dragoon because the name dragoon is already being used by the knights of Ishgard.

As for the topic. I think dragoon's wyvern in FFXI is what made them great and half the reason anyone bothered to level that job. So I'd vote for that to carry to FFXIV but with more options for appearances and armor like they've announced for the chocobo system. On the other hand though, no dragoons in past Final Fantasys had pet dragons/wyverns that I can recall.

The wyvern in FFXI existed only because Dragoon was otherwise a completely boring and generic damage dealer. Heck, for years Dragoon was that even despite having a wyvern. Imo, they should just think hard and make it a unique job without relying on gimmicks first.

Dragoons have a long history with Final Fantasy, but FFXI is the only time it had a pet. I think there are those who would like to feel the full power of the job within their own character's hands, just like all the famous dragoons did (Kain, Cid Highwind, Freya, Kimahri).

When you have a pet that participates in battle, you have to diminish the dragoon's own power and share it with the pet (for balance). With no pet, a dragoon can be made as powerful as any other damage dealer without hesitation or months spent gradually increasing abilities kept purposefully underpowered to make sure the job doesn't have an unfair advantage with its pet.

subnote i'd say that Kimahri was drg/blu lol.

I'd like to see dragon knight first no wyvern, dragoon with a wyvern later when Yoshi-P said he'd think about pet jobs {long time}. Then i'd like to see Lnc+arc or some better class besides arc that fits = Samurai for an advanced job with like the option of bow, polearm, or great katana. That's if samurai isn't its own class. I'm not for a sam like xi's either just to get things straight.

Dragon knight in my opinion would have more defensive capabilities than its lnc predecessor but not full on tank so it can still do excellent dmg.

I for one loved drg and played it for yours as my main. IMO it was only as boring as war thf nin sam drk and all the others. Drg was unique in its ability to solo with the wyvren's healing breaths. I wouldn't mind seeing the wyvren come back even if its totally different than the xi counterpart. Maybe dragoons will just get dragon like abilities like breath attacks instead.
