Just got level 50 MIN, now what?

Hey everyone,

I'm kinda new to the game and after lots of hours I finally reached level 50 MIN, yay ^_^!
Now, I want to go for the forager hat and the other mining weapon to mine the bigger ores, but I'm not sure what to do now. I bought the whole HQ Mining set (miner slops, etc) and the HQ accessories which give me CP and the HQ militia awl.

I know I need to start melding now for the 30x HQ Umbral Rocks.
What stats do I need to get myself to mine these rocks? And is it better to get the max stats on this gear for level 3 stars rocks or do I need to get other gear for those?

I really would appreciate if someone explains this to me, I red a lot of guides and they are quite confusing to me >.<.

You're going to need 353 Gather 332 Preception for the Umbral Rocks HQ minimum.

About melding, I do not recommend melding too much right now, but it's all dependant on how much Gathering/Perception you have. For example, if you have 330 Gathering and 330 perception, you should only meld Perception and then buy food that's good enough to reach the gathering cap. Likewise, if you have 350 gathering and 330 perception, the melds are very easy and you can spent a couple of Gathering Is to reach the minimums.

Another tip about Melding is, meld your rightside only for now, especially the gear that's already best in slot (I.E: if you search on the market board, sort by GP (For accessories) and the highest one is the one that's Best in Slot, these have higher melding caps but not a huge difference from 2nd BiS)

I disagree, if you have the hq set, meld everything to cap except the hat. It'll make umbral rock and autumbral rock farming easier..

Once you have your forager's hat and main hand, you'll be able to hit 2 stars with a fully melded miner's set.
After that, start working towards your supra then lucis.. By the time you have your lucis tool, you'll be ready to do 3 star mining.. All without buying a single forager piece.. It's a big investment in the beginning but it'll pay off later as you progress into 3 stars without having to invest millions in forager gear

for example: My miner's current stats are 444 gathering and 420 perception. I just need 6 more gathering and I'm not 100% melded to cap yet, used all tier I and II materia only.

It's the cheapest way to gear up your gathering class, even if you have to meld materia again for Botanist.

I didn't melded my gathering classes before i got all classes dodore belt and accessories. And i didn't melded any class locked gear at all. It was enough to get any 1 star node. After getting forager set / offhands i made full melds and only then began to grind token items. With such equip and quest primary tool it is possible to skip forager tools (only hat needed) and work on getting supras.

I think I'm going to use IV materia mostly on the accessories untill I can mine HQ Umbral Rocks.

So melding untill I get these stats from Lyzern: 353 Gather 332 Preception.
Could this be a good start? Maybe use food to get better stats for the HQ mining. And after I've done that meld further for the 2-3 stars rocks..? :)

You really don't need to use any tier IV materia for gatherer gear... That's why gatherer materia are cheap to begin with, not enough demand or need for tier IVs.. You can if you'd like, it WILL help make the grind go faster if you have more stats. But that's only if you have enough gil for it..

On my server they are like 80k now. But going for the tier III materia is good enough to get 3 stars rocks in the future?

Melding is the easy part.
Surviving the grind is another.
So imo start finding something else to do while u grind for X Turn ins.
Watching stuff on youtube, netflix etc.
Playing another game while gathering.
But that is if u plan on only afking till node spawns lol

oh wow that's really cheap.. on mine, tier IVs gatherer's can go as high as 200-250k each.

But yes, if you look at the link above, that's my character sheet. You can see how crappy of a melding job I did (used only tier I and II, not even to meld cap), but I'm still 3 star capable.
