Gatherers should get a little more love

I know gathering is not a very popular role at all, most people find it boring and whatnot.

Personally, I find it very relaxing and a very casual, yet efficient, way to make money and I feel like Square could do a little to spike the interest a little bit. I mean, we're getting almost nothing with Heavensward while all the other classes have new abilities, specialization and whatnot confirmed. All we get is some kind of "masterbook" that the crafters already had and a new, very small according to the letter, buff that allows you to discover hidden nodes (as in, what we already have?).

I don't know, I'd give out some suggestions but if it's already announced there's nothing we can do to change or add, just wanted to put this out there.

I could care less what people think....I'm self sufficient, no dealing with the market boards buying stuff and I make a ton of gil:)

They're adding in scribes (I believe they were called) and local folklore for gatherers. Crafters and gatherers have to deal with Rowena a lot more, yay =_= So they didn't forget us.

and somebody who foregoes the self sufficiency part and buys things off of MB make a ton more :P
It's just not worth your time to gather shards and mats that are 200gil a pop your self. If you do, you have other reasons for doing so of course.. My friend does the exact same thing.. It's part of the experience. But in terms of efficiency, you won't beat a well oiled machine.

If the stuff being added is progression content (methods needed to upgrade your weapon and equipment), I would expect it to be EASIER, not HARDER than high-level Big Fishing, as that is entirely optional content.

In other words, if you're a Fisher who has already gotten the "Master Caster" and "of Dragons Deep" titles, it's unlikely that any kind of progression content will challenge you. Its similar to Coil champions snoozing their way through Snowcloak or Keeper of the Lake.

On the other hand, they DID compare the new Gatherer content to Crafters' Masterbooks. Producing the Masterbook II's to unlock 4-star recipes is pretty much the most challenging thing any crafter can do at this point and IS progression. Maybe there's cause for concern after all...

Well the divine favors system to me sounded like it would limit you to a specific node type for the day (24 hr period similar to maps) which means there is a very specific direction we will have to choose everyday and in that choice there will be different catagories. So I think all players involved in the gather > craft > usage cycle will have a shift. So even with progression aside there is a concerning importance for high level gathers, even to the low end like me who is only high end in one gathering profession. Isn't it exciting?
