Please, don't dumb down the content even further for sake of newcomers. :-O

As we know every newcomer will have to go trough atleast 2.0 - 2.55 story to get to Heavensward. Even now many newcomers (for example in my FC) complain that the game is too easy and dumb untill 50, if level 50 content becomes even easier than it already is I can see many newcomers leaving before getting to Heavensward. :eek:

Edit: Glad I was there when Titan Hard was a challenge and it was an actual achievement to clear it. Seems like in future it won't be even possible to fall down (maybe).

You have perfectly twisted what I meant with this thread.
I haven't said anything like that it should be hard as it was 2 years ago or that I wanted to gate newcomers from 3.0 untill they are "worthy".
Stripping 2.0 - 2.55 content from any challenge will maybe make it faster for newcomers to progress but it will give them nothing. No fun, no experience for further content.
Even now there are people (in Why I have no interest in Coils more specifically, T9. thread for example) who say that they didn't expect raid to be so hard after every content in the game was on highly different difficulty and they are right. Even now game doesn't prepare you for the end content at all (that explain why some people have problems with Steps of faith too) and dumbing the content down even more will only make the problem bigger in 3.0 (for newcomers).
Imagine that you are walking trough pink valley with rabbits and moogles from 1 to 50 and then come to Isghard and first dragon you meet slaps you to death. Yeah, I can see that happening now even when it is a few months in the future.

If I didn't care about new players and their experience of this game I wouldn't waste my time making this thread. I won't go into numbers because I don't want to lie but rougly half of people I tried to bring into FFXIV made it to endgame simply because the game was too easy for the other half. And it is hard to convince someone that later content will be more challenging when they don't see any increase in difficulty trough they whole leveling process and MSQ process.

So just how many people are these "many newcomers to your FC" that are complaining about the game being too easy? Empty "numbers" like that don't mean a thing because the next guy could just come along and say "many newcomers in my FC complain that the game is too hard".

It's understandable why SE wants to make the old content easier, because the interest in doing the old content will drop considerably once the new high-end stuff is added to the game.

Yay, easier content! But they have still got a long way to go before the game can be truly enjoyable for everyone, even those without fingers.

Please stop nerfing old content, level increases and item level increases are already decreasing the difficulty. If you have to, make easy modes, don't destroy the proper fights forever.

The challenge can be revisited by selecting the ilvl option that syncs the party to the minimum ilvl requirement of the dungeon.

That said, keep in mind that this is a vertical progression MMO - they want players to get and keep current on the content, not linger behind at old bottle-necks beating their heads against the wall. Yes, that means losing some of the past challenges but they seem to be taking steps to allow players to revisit those challenges, perhaps in ways they never really cleared it before.

So yes, there needs to be a catch-up lane for those new to the game trying to get to the point where they can play alongside the friends that invited them. There's no point in making them suffer for year-old content when they're trying to get current.

it's not about dumb down the previous content, it's more about why the incentive reason for player to do it?

newcomer are not that many as the time pass, less and less people will do this content and the player wanting to try it or need it will simply be stuck because no one will be around. do it is fair? no.
by the way, what it's important you doing the content now? or the one later that will have a easier version? who gonna be more proud? you or them?

people need to stop to look what the other do.

Loaded question, are you referring to me, with multiple level 50 classes and a large amount of experience in the field?

Or my new player friend who has a year and a half's worth of content to blow through, much of it mandatory, before they can even access the ZONES in which I will be spending the majority of my gaming time?

Answer is different depending on perspective. And even then, we have to factor tedium as well as difficulty. Content that isn't current can and will be viewed as an obstruction to progress, rather than progress itself, especially if the pressure is on to join fellows ahead of you.
