Using abilities
I've only recently starting to take my crafting seriously, so I leveled TAN, BSM and ALC to get maker's muse preserve and fulfillment. My questions is, whether or not there is a best time to use these abilities or should I just select them as they appear? Should I wait till the orb starts blinking before using preserve or should I just use it right off the bat if it's available? If I'm just using a standard synth, is Maker's Muse more preferable than fulfillment, or does it matter? At this point I'm mostly grinding, but if there's a difference when one if crafting items for sale, I'd like to know it also. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure Preserve actually *does* anything, honestly. Yes, it makes the orb white, but I'm not entirely certain it makes the synth behave appropriately. Fulfillment and Maker's Muse seem to be equally useful for standard spamming.
As far as when to use them, I hate using abilities when the orb is blinking, unless it's an ability that will let me keep going despite the instability. So, for Maker's Muse and Fulfillment, I'd usually wait until the orb is a solid color. For Preserve, well. . . like I said, I don't trust it, so I'd probably save it until I've had to wait a few times, or something.

Thanks for the advice, I was mainly spamming Maker's Muse and Fulfillment and saving Preserve till the orb was blinking or, if progress was high enough, anything that wasn't white. I guess I'll stick with that.

I use Preserve whenever its not white.
