Item sort: please do something about it

I have just one very basic request: make the sort actually good for human use.

The default sort cannot do any of the following, and some also aren't possible even with custom /isort:

• Sort gear such that pieces from the same set are next to each other. So all Acolyte pieces are together, all Striker pieces are together, all Valor pieces are together, etc.
• Sort gear such that pieces for the same job are together. So all tanking pieces together (currently there's no way to avoid STR dps pieces mix them in among the tanking pieces).
• Sort my GP/CP accessories first.

I know the devs think that having something is better than nothing, but this very crude item sort is far from satisfactory.

And I can't help but to mention this again:

Give us that add-on framework and you save yourself a lot of effort in implementing UIs. Time put into getting the framework ready will have multiplicative effects as people rush to solve every single possible imaginable UI problem in the game within the first month of release. Give us the tools to solve our problems.

And what is the nonsense with trying to run a /isort macro on the retainer? Why in the world must you remove my hotbars at the retainer? I have to type /macros and find my retainer sort macro to execute. It's things like this that discredit the UI team. Have you actually used the UIs you design? :(

I don't know how serious you are, but yes there's a default sort accessible via your inventory, retainerr and armory chest right-click, and a custom sort with configurable conditions via the text command /isort

But the /isort is so half-assed that it doesn't have a condition for parry, nor for CP/GP.

I can't stand when I sort and come back later to the armory chest later and have to sort again because there are gaps between gear slots. Forgive me if I'm OCD.

Do you honestly think that the people whom gave you the worthless and bizarre /isort command are capable of incorporating a functional framework for developing user interface objects? Why go to all that work when they can just just tack on the most basic UI elements themselves by simply hard coding them into the game?

Please be realistic. An /itemsort command should be a simple thing to create. And yet what they gave us is barely usable. And you want them to build a framework! Would you really want to see the kind of UI framework they'd come up with?

Giving us a list view option would be half the battle.

I can't count the hours I've wasted mouse-overing each object to tell if its the one I want. What a torturous method of inventory viewing. Picture only, where half the items all look the same.

We actually have been asking for a list view since very early on in Beta. But it was denied due to memory limitations and screen real estate.

...that means it was (and still is) limited by the PS3 and by supporting 1024x768 officially.
