the real problem with chocobo racing...isnt the racing

I love the racing, what i hate is how the whole concept feels lackluster, for example:
Y isnt the chocobo square part of the main GS? im sure more ppl wud do it if it was near the TT square and mini cactpot counter
y isnt there any npcs actually watching the races at the side of the tracks?

the chocobo square is huge but completely empty, there shud be crowds of npcs, lots of chocos decerated in a full array of colours, banners hanging from the cieling, dancers in choco outfits, tv screens depicting races, perhaps even interactive statues describing legendary choco riders in history

it shud feel like an event/celebration but is actually quite baron

People seem to forget this is a mini-game in an MMO. This isn't a stand alone MK style game, with countless more hours spent on design and coding. Although it has its flaws... mainly balancing (NPCs are OP after unneeded red item buffs) and over the top influence of the rng-monster... it is still a very good mini-game in an MMO. It has a sturdy foundation for which to build upon, and hopefully they will build upon it into what it can be.

Havent forgotten, it is a great mini game and i realize it takes time/effort (and money) for ppl to develop something like this, like i say its not even the game itself.
jus having a rant because i feel the whole concept of the races cud seem more exciting than they actually are. Really they were jus ideas i dont expect to be implemented, atleats not any time soon but wud be nice in the future :)

i have no idea, but i think it's better for the server when many people do choco racing. they are not on the same map as the other people in gold saucer, so the server won't crash xD too bad, there are only like 8 people do choco racing :x

the chocoracing is too RNG based and too grind-heavy. people are complaining about relic weapon grind / atma drop-rate. the choco racing is a way harder grind with way more RNG in it. plus there is almost no reward.

good thing: i like grinding^^ better thing: i hate pvp. that includes racing against PCs. but there is no PC, only those overpowered NPCs xD

I always have people at the chocobo square in my server. Only problem is I never get to race anyone since I didn't jump on the massive chocobo breeding bandwagon, thus the game always throws me in an NPC only race.

I agree, there's probably a technical reason for it to be separate.

Also agreed, it is one monster of a grind. I don't know how a handful of people managed to get the racing mask for pedigree 9 and the First Across title for 500 wins almost instantly. Racing the same courses all day to grind it out would be very depressing.

I can confirm,i was on anti-depressants after 5 days.The ones that grinded to 9...i almost pity them,and i'm really not trying to be insulting.

It's a lot easier than the TT grind. Sure, you need 1800 race to get a Rank 50 Pedigree 9 chocobo and that's around 90h time (you can make around 750k MGP with this in TT - sold cards included - in ~8100 matches). But it's not that repetitive. You could also just press W and let it run, impossible when you play TT.

Still, of course it's also mind-numbing when you really do it in a single week or so...
