Flash vs Overpower
So I am still new to tanking, with a MRD at 23 and a GLA at 9 but I can't help but think Flash would be better because it is a complete 360 AOE taunt versus the arc that overpower has. Add the fact that flash costs MP instead of TP, would it be safe to use Flash instead of Overpower or do they both have different uses that I just do not see?

Overpower generates more hate from what I've seen and does damage. As a Warrior you only get about 4 flashes before you're out of MP so it's usually best used to conserve TP and prevent breaking your combos.

Use flash as your running thru the pack to grab then overpower to secure
-
Okay, that makes sense to use flash as you run around mobs and secure the threat with overpower; thank you all for the tips!

Flash is situational. You're right that it has the advantage of having 360 range, but there are 3 important downsides:
1. Flash does no damage. More damage = mob dies faster = less damage on you. Flash relies entirely on the DPS/Healer to burn everything down and that results in more damage on you.
2. Your MP pool as a WAR is limited severely. You get like... 4-5 Flashes I think before you go completely OOM and you have no way to replenish that mana outside of the natural tick. While OP suffers from a similar resource management problem, it's much quicker to cover TP (afaik) and you'll only need 1-2 OPs to secure threat, making OP the optimal choice in most situations.
3. Later on you'll get a move called Steel Cyclone, which only costs you 5 Wrath stacks and is a 360 OP.
Flash of course has it's advantages, however. I personally think a lot of people undervalue Flash because of the reasons listed above, but it's actually very useful. It's the easiest way to continue AOE threat at low TP, it's the only 360 ranged AOE you have outside of 5 stacks, it works when you're pacified during Berserk, etc. etc.
So while Flash definitely has it's uses, most of the time you'll want to use OP over Flash. Just do your best to recognize when and where Flash should be used.

You don't want the mobs 360 around you when you have BLMs in your party; their AoE won't end up hitting all the mobs.

MRD/WAR will always see more hate out of overpower compared to flash just because the overpower deals damage to all the targets it hits and can be performed more often then flash. Though this doesn't mean that flash is a bad move to have cross classed was a MRD/WAR since it give the widest of all the AoE Hate generating moves that can be used making groups of wide spread adds a good target to use this move on. Also because of this when pulling large groups of mobs it is a better move to use since the monsters will lag a little further behind then your steel cyclone can pick up. As for the 360 degree statement as a tank no matter which one you are playing as getting hit from behind is a bad thing to allow to happen since you damage mitigation is lower behind you.

i prefer to use flash when i am low on tp, sitting in a pacify from berserk or want to catch something without having to alter my current direction to pick it up, otherwise overpower all the way
i also cant say for sure as i've never explicitly tested the two abilities to find out but overpower's enmity probably scales better with attack power and would therefore generate a greater amount of threat

As said above Flash + Overpower are a combination you use (as WAR later on youll add Steel Cyclone) I aggro with Overpower Flash go over to Combos and spread em over all mobs and Flash a bit inbetween when I have a larger groug and see someone single targeting.
Looking at our static I also know you can leave out Flash completely, our WAR does all group aggro with Steel Cyclone and Overpower (FCoB raid).... Its a special opinion he has but it works after a few tries :p - I recommend the combo and situational use of all 3 skills though.

My 2 cents
I never set flash and that's a personal pref, if you are coming up on a set of mobs using a voke far enough out you will generally group them together as they run to you, or if you just run thru a set of mobs and overpower once your past them you will 90% of the time hit them all.
When it comes to TP issues you can sub in mnks Haymaker counter attack which is only 40 tp. When you are being attacked by 6+ mobs you "will" dodge attacks very regularly, almost enough to keep using it back to back, to add to this it will not break combos.
Not only will you gaining tp back after you have exhausted all of it using overpower, you will also be throwing a 20% slow on mobs while using Haymaker.
Like I said its personal pref, and you will sometimes not hit everything with your overpower ( mages standing away from pack ) but that's fixed with a simple tomahawk. Flash to me is wasted potential compaired to the extra damage from Haymaker and the slow debuff.
