Why does Ninja armour squeak?

Seems a tad counter productive.

The chest piece you get from the NIN job quest causes a squeaking.

Because it's part chainmail?

Either way a NINJA shouldn't be wearing something that makes noise. Kind of hard to sneak around when every time you make a step it sounds like youre carrying a ton of mice in your pockets.

I guess it could be said that with that particular armor the Ninja chest piece is actually armor used for combat and not stealth. Due to the embellished reinforcements throughout the design, and the over all use of metal, I believe it was designed specifically for close quarters combat and not for... lets say strategic stealth information gathering missions. Mind you my Rogue is only level 21 and my theory is only from my personal knowledge of armor and not based on any story line information or details.

Our versions of ninja are, as mentioned, fighters and not direct infiltrators.
It's also a misnomer that Ninja would use "silent" equipment. The real ninja would wear whatever gets the job done, squeaky or not. Hell most of them wore peasant garb rather than the traditional outfits.
Since our Hide seems to be a supernatural ability, what's the point of worrying about a little clinking?
