Market Board Rage
The following ensued after I undercut someone:
ANGRY RUDE DUDE>> hey idiot why would u put up something for 450k when i'm putting up something for 680k? at least undercut me by 1k
ANGRY RUDE DUDE>> u can even have the item idc, but make more money than that
I reported him at this point, and didn't intend to engage at all, but just kept getting more pissed off, so finally replied
PISSY ME: your attitude sucks...you'll be lucky if i don't undercut everything you have just for being so rude
ANGRY RUDE DUDE>> well you're an idiot
ANGRY RUDE DUDE>> and go ahead idc
ANGRY RUDE DUDE>> learn to undercut, why would u sell for significantly less?
PISSY ME: because i can
ANGRY RUDE DUDE>> well that's dumb
ANGRY RUDE DUDE>> ur logic hurts my brain -_-
PISSY ME: so are you for thinking that calling me an idiot would help your cause
PISSY ME: your logic hurts me not at all because i don't give a sh*t for you
I'm guessing that this is when he got a notice that he'd been reported
ANGRY RUDE DUDE>> wow buddy calm down there
ANGRY RUDE DUDE>> dont need to get so serious
ANGRY RUDE DUDE>> i'm sorry i had a bad night doing relic runs, that was rude of me
*** End of chat history
So, the biggest part of my game is crafting, i sell on the market board, obviously. Rarely do i undercut by large amounts, although i do on occasion. In this case, if iirc, the item had either been sitting for too long on the board, and was grossly inflated by ANGRY RUDE DUDE. Regardless of how or why i undercut him this was a terrible way to approach me about it.
The apology at the end was nice, but honestly...if you MUST approach someone for undercutting you, remember that honey is sweeter than vinegar. I would have been happy to have a discussion about it with someone who wasn't so insulting.
I like our free market system. I get undercut all the fricking time and i still like our free market system. Not once have i complained to my competitors about their undercutting me by hundreds and hundreds of thousands of gil. In fact, i have recommended them for commissions who didn't want to pay my price.
There is no need to be afraid of competition, and there is no excuse to be rude to people.
Thanks for hearing my experience and the rant that followed. :)

If you undercut an item that was selling at 680k to 450k, you're only shorting yourself - which is kinda silly. I would probably be mad too if I was him.
It is against ToS to go out of your way to harass someone that has undercut you, so you did the right thing to report him. But it doesn't help your argument or point of your post that you gave in to the person harassing you, and continued to harass them back...Then to say that there is no excuse to be rude to people in your post. IF what you are saying is true, you're the one who had started swearing....so what is the point of this thread? I'm thinking dildos.

I agree with you 100%...it was pissy of me to respond at all, and i shouldn't have...but did. I didn't try to hide my wrong in this.
On the subject of undercutting him, this was an item that normally sells for about 350k, and sat on the board for too long. If something sits too long, i lower prices.
I double-checked the item history in question (heavy wolfram cuisses)...honestly not sure why i put it so low, i think it was a typo on my part. Would have been nice to not have been insulted about the whole thing to find out.

... if only there's a way to disable crafter name on our crafted gears being sold. lol

You should undercut.. Because you CAN and because you want to.
You don't have to explain yourself to him, it's a free market.
If he can't survive in the market, tell him to move on to something else and stop trying to compete against you.
I bet if you do that to him a couple more times, he'll avoid any market your name is in :)

Honestly, I think what you did was total BS. I would hate you as well if you undercut me by that much (not that I would have sent you a tell like that).
However, if it was an item I knew would have sold, I would have bought it and turned around and re-sold it for current value. Karma's a b.

I know people who have gone out of their way to blacklist other people who undercut. They never cuss them out or harass them but, I still think it's funny.
However, on the fact you undercut or ANYONE undercuts like that, it pisses me off too. If you see the item sells for X price already up on the board, why make it less? Why tank the market? The reply, "Because I can,." is a rather piss poor and shitty attitude to have just like the player who called you out.
Just wish we could call people out to the GMs and such for being jerks and tanking a market. but it only seems that people are allowed to be asses, undercut and not care about the rest of the community trying to make a buck.

Calling you an idiot wasn't alright of him, but your responses weren't any more civilized. That report will lead nowhere as it'll be deemed a "player dispute" and those are summarily ignored by SE.

"Tanking" or crashing is a legit strategy if you are chasing out newcomers from your market and/or establising your dominance. People who complain about undercutting are usually the people who get a small amount of item, usually one of some value, and then want to get as much as they can for it. Nothing wrong with that. Multiply that and you have a threat to specialists in their little niches and they will react accordingly. Price cutting is one said tactic as well as flooding the market to take care of people who try to buy you out.. Controlling certain mats to increase prices of certain end products.. etc.. Hence the old saying.. if you can't take the heat.. than...

Doesn't really sound like "rage" to me at all.
