Remapping mouse buttons
First off, I apologize if this isn't the right place, couldn't really tell what a good spot would be. Anyway, I just got a new mouse and it doesn't seem to come with any kind of remapping software like some mouses seem to come with (or so google says). I got an Azza Alpha gaming mouse and it has some side buttons I'd like to remap to "Alt" or "ctrl" however only thing I am finding is an external software to do this. Basic question I want to ask, is this a ban-able offense or am I safe to use the software?

That'd be a horrible thing to be bannable! FFXIV won't accept my mouse's M4/5/6/7/8/9 as keybinds so I had to map them to stuff that would never be used like alt + ] and stuff. This is not a bannable offense - you aren't actually doing anything to the game. Even using SweetFX is totally fine and it actually affects the game (well, all it does is put a post processing overlay over the window basically) But really, assigning special keys in your mouse's software program will not hurt you. It's from outside the game and as far as the game registers, you're hitting alt + ]

Alright then, I appreciate it. I've heard horror stories from some people being banned from other games for outside programs so I figured I'd get an opinion on it before I go and do something like that.

Yeah, Squeenix is really stingy about banning you over in-game bug exploiting or mentioning dps parsers, but something like remapping a key won't get you banned.
