I am just curious if any of you guys are testing out win10 and how well does it hold up while running the game any improvement or does it make it worse as I might upgrade considering the first year of the release they giving away free upgrades.

It on a media computer i have at the house that i just use to watch movies. Havent got to experiment with it too much but what i can tell Cortana is absolute crap. All it can do currently is tell you the weather, a few jokes, and search Bing for you.

You don't have to use the cortana thing at all (and I really wouldn't).
Windows 10 is full of bugs, but that's kind of the point of the technical preview, they're pushing out ideas and features to the public so they can basically troubleshoot everything. There are some nice things, and some not so nice things. Not but just a few days ago, they updated it after a little bit to fix the text in a lot of windows programs, which until now would mess up graphically horribly. And with that fix now my e-mail and calendar stuff doesn't work. It's not meant if you want a perfect operating system right now, and they've promised it's probably going to break even more for now.
It works fine to play games, at least mostly fine. As far as FFXIV it's just as good as W8 or W7. I have two cards running in SLI and it's perfectly compatible with that. However I've tried running a game that uses Gameguard, and Gameguard doesn't recognize W10 as a valid operating system and so it is not compatible (I had to install W7 on a separate hard drive to get around this).
As far as the future goes, when it's released (assuming they have all the bugs fixed), I foresee it being a pretty nice OS. There's a real fear they'll focus more on the mobile features and stuff, but so far it isn't gone too far into that.
Running the preview now. There are some bugs, but honestly it's fully useable right now. Just some graphical glitches so far. As for FFXIV, runs just as good as it did in 8.1 (which for me was a performance increase over 7). No special tricks, just installed DX9 and then FFXIV and it works like a charm. On a side note, so do all of my other games. Steam opens just fine on it, as does origin.
@Freyt: I haven't had problems such as those. My Mail and calendar still work even after the recent update. I have seen some graphic glitches, such as windows drawing slowly, but other than that it's been pretty smooth. Never even noticed a text problem tbh.
Too early to say anything solid about W10. It's just a technical preview which got old with newer versions coming up. The drivers are not ready yet. For now it's just a buggy preview and this is to be expected. They will release it this summer (August I guess though they didn't specify) so we can talk about how it performs once it get's a stable clean release.
