Steps: Not sure how to explain in steps.
I was crafting a primal weapon difficulty 445, previously to crafting this I crafted terminus putty also same difficuly and durability. When finishing a 3 star craft I use 2 piece by piece with ingenuity II and then 3 careful synthesis II.
All moves hit while I was crafting the Inferno codex. When is came to using ingenuity II and 3 Careful synthesis II it was as if the craft difficulty increased and the finishing move wasn't enough. I dont care about the other materials I just want my 10 Battlecraft Demimateria back as it was a huge chunk of money

Any craft that is aligned with an element such as the codex is fire makes it so the regular progress moves dont work as well.

I know your pain, I did the same when I tried to craft my 1st primal weapon, and was as confused as u, spoke with a crafting buddy who advised using brand of fire/earth etc to finish then. I had completely forgotten about those skills.
Unfortunately ur not gonna be able to get ur mats back, as the recipe was working as intended.
