It does not. I regularly use the l'cie bardiche as my weapon glamour and have had to re-glamour it every time.
It's not a big deal as it gives me a chance to take a couple screenshots before going back into my icy style.

What they said.
That is the way it works for any gear in the game when it is upgraded, you are literally trading in (losing) your current item and being given a whole new one so the glamour does not carry over and has to be redone on the new piece of gear.
As far as the game is concerned, the weapon is destroyed every time and then you're given a shiny new item with stepped-up stats that has nothing to do with your old item (except the stat choices stay). In other words, the brand new item is unglamoured, undyed (in the case of Zetas), and at 0% Spiritbond.
I will make note though that my wife informed me that going from the base Zodiac to the Zodiac Zeta had kept her dye.
So while glamours are removed, dye isn't, oddly enough.
I think he's asking if you use the zodiac as a glamor, will it stay if you upgrade it. Say you glamor the ice brand as excalibur, if you get Excalibur Zeta will icebrand still look like regular Excalibur?
In that case, I can at least confirm that you will keep the old glamour, even if you hop onto a new step. My Vajras still look like a pair of Yoshimitsu Animus, despite having upgraded them to the Novus. That said, I can't use the Vajras as a valid glamour choice, so you can't keep copies of old relic steps that way. :p
