Heavensward Physical Copy & Steam

Will the code that comes with the physical copies (standard & CE) of Heavensward activate with Steam?

Not sure why it would activate with steam. Since, it would be a code that applies to your Square Enix service account.

i beleave it was specified if you use steam you MUST buy heavensward Via steam to use it

(from a Reddit thread). If that's the case the people who purchased the Steam version are SOL when it comes to getting the physical copy of the CE.

I'm actually worried if we will be able to pre order via Steam.

Guess that means I won't be playing via Steam anymore. I originally purchased the physical edition, then bought it on Steam and gave the key to someone else so I could install and play via Steam. I guess I could just do that again, but I probably just won't.

There is ABSOLUTELY no reason why we should have to jump through these hoops.

There are these revolutionary things called "CD keys". Y'know like the one that was entered to connect the original copy to the S-E account? Though, I don't know how they'd verify that you need a Steam Key, but I imagine that'd be an option for S-E support to give for the eventuality of physical copies and Steam.

Yeah I'm looking for an answer to this too. Will we be able to add a Steam Heavensward key to a Non-Steam A Realm Reborn account? They said no to the other way around but made no mention of whether or not that way will be okay.

I bought FFXIV when it was 1.0. Started playing again at ARR, bought the Steam version when it was released and gave the key away since I had an account. Now if I want Heavensward on Steam I have to do the same, buy both a non-Steam and Steam version?

I am looking for official answer to this too..i really don't want to buy 2 copies (physical CE then steam)
