Specialist tier confirmed for crafting

Thoughts on this? They didn't say much but it seems like you can only make all the items on your specialist craft.

Everyone's going to specialize GSM...

He pretty much only told us the name of the system, but yeah, it does suggest that they're going to force specializations and make it so we won't be able to craft everything.

Honestly, when the game was released I loved crafting, but they keep ruining it to appease the people whining about everyone being able to craft everything so they can't jack up prices and have a "good economy".

Mayhaps it will be a system like desynthesis, where we only have a certain amount of "points" to "spend" in each craft.

Well it's all speculation atm, you never know "specialization" could tie into having the specific armor for that class which grants you access to more recipes or such.

It will be interesting to see how it pans out since in essence it could be semi odd to have specialization on top of class specific gear unless it's the gear itself that serves to support the specialization process.

I'm not. GSM is nice, sure but nothing I would specialize in.

Say if you specialize in one of the odd crafts that nobody does then they make part of the new relic quest take a crafted item like they did for zodiac then you be able to jack up the price a lot.

Honestly I don't mind having to choose certain classes to specialize in since gearing every crafter is getting annoying. The problem with it is that there are crafting classes that are more useful then other ones if you want to be self sufficient like Culinarian and Goldsmith.

FFXIV's greatest strenght was that you could do anything with one character but between the lockouts and grinds they've done everything to make it incredibly hard to keep all your classes properly geared. I'm not surprised it's reached crafters a well, we got a taste of it already with desynth.

Maybe they let you pick 3 mains like desynth. Seems like they wanted to move away from 1 person being able to control the whole market but you get 8 characters per server so you could still do it
