Triple Triad League System?

Was just thinking it might be a cool addition to the game if had a league system in place, like sports leagues. You move up in the league by winning and defending your title and current position. Points system in place for win, loss or draws like 1 points for a win, 0 points for a draw and -1 for a loss. Anyone can participate and you move up in the league based on skill of winning not how many cards you have so even a person with a 1 star pack could potentially be the top player of the league if was good enough and was willing to dedicate a lot of time to the sport/game pushing themselves up the league through how many matches they play alongside how many they win.

The game itself however MUST be used to partner and select opponents to limit any abuse, it would be used to match based on your closest rivals who happen to be online at the time you start your match alongside a wildcard mechanic in the sense of occasionally the game will select one person at random from the league but further than closest rivals to challenge you in a match depending who is online at the time put self up for a match. Most important is having no player control over who you face being handled by players themselves, the game must select your opponents not you the player.

Once you start a match you cannot leave or abandon without resulting in a loss aka -1 point but if have no preset number of matches per season you can always make up for it if simply had bad luck and DC'd. If however you DC more than say 30 times in a season you will be stopped from participating for rest of season in the league matches because no-one would legitimately DC over 30 times specifically 'during matches' which don't take long each during a single month aka season. It would not affect your ability to take part in tournaments or just normal playing outside of the league though if banned from continued participation in the league for the season. The league would be separate from the tournaments in that while the season of league lasts month by month, the tournaments continue to last week by week.

Being top of the league grants you an in game title at the end of the month/season but other than that the only benefit from taking part is for fun, enjoyment, ego and the normal win amount of MGP you get with playing someone currently in normal matches. There would be no major financial gain in-game in the sense there is no grand prize of MGP linked to being top of the league or tied to any unique or limited items. Perhaps the seasons can be short like a month by month basis where it gets reset after a month for the start of a new season in the next month. There would not be a set number of matches per season though, the people who put more effort in and play more often will tend to be higher up in the league but there is nothing wrong with that in my opinion, skill decides if go up but amount of dedication to the game/sport also contributes.

Anyone else like the basic idea or wish to add anything to the idea for debate?

Bit surprised no-one has come up with any improvements to what I suggested or listed any problems with it. Leads me to thinking either there is no obvious abuses to what I suggested or people just don't care for having a TT league within the gold saucer weekly event/activities mini game rotation with exception of the two people who liked the post.

More self-achievement related progressive ranking is not a bad thing, but I think where we are right now with the game is pretty far off from being able to have a league system in place lol. This feels like something that would be added maybe... after the 2nd major update to GS. The DC thing might be a bit much though, just because of how easy something like that could be (such as a strike being placed because of a server crash). I've had a couple ST runs where the tank kept DC'ing repeatedly, and it really didn't seem intentional. The same happening while trying to play a TT match is quite probable, coupled with the bad taste that such an unfortunate occurrence essentially counts down your eventual lockout, isn't really the best impression for developers to leave lol. This isn't exactly the same as the 3-strike rule with queues, afterall.

The demand for this sort of thing would be minimal, at best though IMO. It's essentially a queue system, afterall. Off peak hour players would probably have the most difficulty participating. Unless there's something visually stimulating or prestigious (again, with the assistance of flair), you really won't have much participation after a month or so lol.

I think participating in it where normal player vs player MGP reward would lead to a continued interest as it often gives more MGP than NPC's do which is why do not need a top prize MGP reward, a simple title would do at the end of each season to the top player while at the same time it not only becomes a place where people can farm MGP against others instead of limited to randomly hoping the person at the inn or in the GS, friends or FC members will want to play if challenge them but also ego being quite a large driving force in keeping it going and active.

A huge amount of people in this game are competitive and some what egocentric so I do not think would be any problem in it remaining active long term combined with a slightly larger MGP amount gained from each match might win compared to NPC's. I think the DC limit to prevent abuse with my suggestion of the arbitrary 30 number in my original comment is open to change for example could be 50 or less than 30 based on metric data gathered by SE to decide that threshold and as you said we already have such limitations in this game in terms of duty withdrawals so it is something SE would be willing to probably look into and do.

The people who legitimately DC during the small time frame a league match actually lasts once in while would not be punished with a temporary season lockout and those that do legitimately DC some times would be able to recoup their loss of points by playing more games during that season. It would only lockout people with either the worst luck in the world or who should know better than to keep playing specifically league matches while suffering from what would be one of the worst connections possible, instead of putting on hold more league matches until your connection is more stable if happens more than couple times in row.

Same reason you would not attempt to keep trying to farm a coil or EX when you know your having a really bad connection that night. To happen not only specifically during matches more than 30 or 50 times in a single month/season but also when specifically playing 'league' matches (as opposed to generic player vs player and player vs NPC matches outside of it) would not be something legitimate players would have happen to them to that extent in my opinion.
