Friend needs help.

I have a friend who is trying to register for the forums. I'm not sure if we're missing a step, or if something is wrong on SE's end.

I don't remember everything you have to do to register/link accounts, but apparently you have to link your SE account to the forums, right? If my memory serves, you attempt to login to the forums, it takes you to your SE account to login (which is where my friend is stuck currently), then it prompts you to create your forum username and such.

She's using her name and password she uses to login to the game, but she says it's not going through here.

Anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks :)

Where is your friend from? IP address matters when registering on the forums. If you are in a country different from where you bought the game, you won't be able to log in.

Of course, there are ways to bypass that.

The basic steps, that should happen:

1) Click the login button from the top right of this page.
2) Login with your SE Account (where your active sub is attached)
3) New members will be prompted with name creation and then selection of the active character from the game.

What exactly happens after she tries to login? Nothing? Error?

The only thing else to do different is to log into the Lodestone first and then try to enter the forums from there.

Just my guesses...

(and I'm assuming that her game account has an active subscription... since that's required for forum use, unless that's changed...)

Never heard this before... I've got an NA and JP account; I reside in Japan but my legacy account is NA. Anyway, I can use both accounts in the US and/or Japan.

Well in order to make a topic you need to be level 50 maybe that's it. (main class you had at the beginning has to be 50)
But getting an error for logging in is weird

Apologies for not responding for a while, I hit my max daily post limit.

The error my friend is getting is that it's not recognizing her username or password, not sure which or if it's both. Attempting to login to the lodestone didn't work for her either. I've told her it's likely a hiccup on SE's end and to contact support about it, this is making me think that even more. She wanted me to ask anyways though in case we were missing something.

does she or did she ever use the square enix token that generates one-time passwords?
