I want to know where and when I can access the content brought by patches like A Realm Awoken or Before the Fall. Right now, I'm assuming I get access to it once I complete the main story. But where do I find the storylines/content from these patches once I hit 50?
Don't worry - the storylines for each patch are just a continuation of the '2.0' story - and the first story quest for the 2.1 patch picks up from the same place the 2.0 story ended - same as the 2.2 patch story picks up where the 2.1 patch story ended, etc etc. It basically continues as if there was no difference.
They're also identified exactly the same way as the 2.0 main scenario quests (with the 'meteor' icon) so you'll be able to know where to get it when the time comes.
Thanks. I assumed that they were each going to be available at once and I choose which path to take. That would've been excellent my case, since I have more than one character and they'd each get their own if it went that way. Not complaining; a continuation is fine
Well, technically there are optional storylines post main scenario you can do - but these are just the quest lines and associated storylines connected to the Crystal Tower and Binding Coil of Bahamut raids (a raid is like a dungeon shawn of exploration and basically one long set of battles, one after the other, with bosses every so often).
Apart from Labyrinth of the Ancients (the first raid of the Crystal Tower), these require a high average item level, and at the very least, your relic weapon to undertake. They're technically part of the main story, but they're entirely optional and do not have to be undertaken if you do not wish to do so.
