Is it possible to get them for lower ranks by gathering? I'm currently level 43+ for all my gathering but I still need dark matter 1-3 for various repairs and such, is it possible to get it? Or do you have to get decent exp from a source to be able too? Mainly asking because I was fishing for a hour near docks and didn't get a single dark matter 3 anywhere.
You can buy all ranks of dark matter from the DoL vendors in the various cities. Also, the vendors at the starting camps (Bentbranch etc) also sell them.
I've gotten Dark Matter from mining.
You seem to get the same grade of Dark Matter as the mining node, i.e. a Grade 2 node gives Grade 2 Dark Matter.
Dark Matter comes the same way shards and crystals do -- they are rewarded randomly, and the message appears in your General chat log, not the pop-up box displaying what you gathered.
I know how to get them to drop, I'm just wondering if they are like some things where they don't drop if your too high a rank.
