Racing Chocobo Color

Any ideas on if/how we are able to dye of racing chocobo or does the color have to be bred for?

I was racing about 15 minutes after servers went up and people already had red, green and blue chocos.
Mine was yellow as always -_-

Not sure how it's possible yet, but I at least know that is it.
Maybe it's linked to your companion chocobo?

If it were linked to the companion that most certainly wouldn't be the case as my companion is Dalamud Red but my racing chocobo is the normal yellow colour :\

I would also like to know, I am not in the GS atm so can not look for a NPC that might have it...

hmmm... I wonder if the coloured chocobos were NPC ones... I didn't really think about it since I was learning to race

I've seen coloured from the get go too. Hmm. I figure maybe you get colours via breeding but no clue how people have them already, maybe they are NPCs?

they are definitely NPCs. I can't see any way to dye our racing chocobos ><.... damn that is disappointing!

I agree, I noticed that NPC names seem to be green and players blue. If you look, all coloured birds so far will have green names. Guess we'll have to be patient and breed dem 'bos!

It just doesn't make sense to not be able to feed the same dye foods to our racing Chocobos ;_; ... I would love to know if the ability to dye them will be coming in a patch soon. May we please have a response on the topic Devs ^^?

You get colors through breeding. The breeding choco's you buy from the MGP choco vendor to mate with your chocobo has a random color. When you mate with it you have a 50% chance for the offspring to have that color.

it doesnt make sense for the colored bo's to be npc's
because i've held conversations with them
