Revamp mage grear please!!!

this subject has probably popped up in a few threads that already exist but from what I've seen there is no thread made just for it.

If you look at any gear for mages and compare it to one made of a lower quality materiel it looks exactly the same, other than a slight change in hue/color and a different accessory on the neck. EX: Cotton robes shouldn't have the same texture as velveteen. Compare it to any other gear and it falls flat on its face. The only thing that looks like its heading in the right direction is the dungeon gear with the embroidering on its back (not much but it makes it stand out a little more)

do i think that the gear should be completely reconstructed? no, that would take forever and be cruel to the designers, but i think adding to the existing designs would be something nice. Something like adding an archaic design to the body, added headgear (like the seer's cowl), accessories hanging off the sleeves or body, or maybe slight changes as to how it fits to a character (like hemp looks really loose on a chacter while velveteen is more form fitting).

i guess what I'm trying to get out is i feel like the mage gear wasn't given much thought in appearances and looks bland in comparison to most of the other gear. I dont want to ask myself "why do i look like i belong in a monastery every time i wear a cowl regardless of its material and optimum rank?"

one of the things i've always loved about final fantasy games is how much SE puts into designing everything and making it unique, cool, beautiful, and appealing to look at. i just dont get the same feel when i look at the gear for disciples of magic in this game.

Go walk to the THM guild and check out all the really cool Cowl designs and wonder.. WTF can't I wear that?

another thing that would be cool would be a glowing effect or animations (probably better for after level cap is raised, or maybe materia synthesizing?)

the mage gear has no flair. from cowl to robe to half robe, its all the same crap you want mp or you do you just want pie and such? But really you end up wearing w/e you felt gave the best stats, but in the end you would love if the gear that was the best stats looked cool. At this rate imo, none of the maging gar looks cool, it looks realistic to what we'd be maging in, but a lil flair is nice. A thm should wear different flaired gear than a conj and such. Heres hoping jobs will give us the gear we want.

Seriously SE WHM needs the white robes with the red triangles, black mage gear we kinda saw what that would look like and it looks cool, we need more gear that actually gives us an idea into what a person does as that class/job. For those of you who haven't seen the blm gear the belt has a book and two crystal things on it, making it seem like "this is a belt for those skilled in the occult" i'd like more stuff like this. It can make sense all it wants, but we want a little fantasy.

Also its freaking ridiculous there is really no mage gear from the velveteen robe in the 30s to the nm robe at r48, while there is tons more gear sets for DoW at this same 35-48 level range
