Looks strangely like the place the Ascians chill out at with the Zodiark statue. Maybe I am just seeing things.

Moon where? Sir that whole thing is the cloud of darkness the last boos to the Crystal Tower chain and that thing after is the thing we fought on.

That's a black hole, and it's the place where you defeat the cloud of darkness.

That makes more sense. I honestly didn't realize you literally teleport into that. I swear the "moon" was visible from the boss fight but I guess not. I don't recall pillars though surrounding the battlefield?

yes there are there floating with white orbs on the top of them around the arena

That's no moon...

The Chrysalis is described elsewhere in Patch 2.5 as being in an Aetherial Rift between Hydaelyn and the Void.
