DCing before the first step...lose materials?

Okay, so normally, if you cancel a craft before your first step, none of the materials would get used up.

But if you were to DC or crash before you even perform the first step...you lose the materials....what? I mean I understand if you were to DC midcraft and the materials get lost, it's the same manner as canceling your craft midway...but I didnt even get to use comfort zone as my game crashed on craft initiation and I lost all the materials.

Mind you that the items stay in your inventory until the craft ends in completion or material loss... wat.

Yup. In a similar vein, cancelling a craft mid way gives you 0 chance to recover materials, but failing a craft does give you a chance at regaining your materials (more with reclaim up). Both are stupid, but that's the way it works.

the worst case of rng i've ever heard.... except this one is the universe screwing with your crafting and not just the game

that had happened to me once, it happened when i was at 100% just one CSii to finish artisans offhand.

I just quit crafting terminus putty before hitting anything because I forget to slot all my skills and I lost nothing. Not even the clusters.

Penguin - aslong as you don't perform one step you can cancel a synth without losing any mats, op however is talking about dcing before 1 step has been performed, this loses all mats which it shouldn't.
Once again from my previous thread recently, all steps should be saved to protect against dc's but at the same time worked that it cannot be abused if you get a bad run
I lost 5mil of mats after 2 steps due to a very very rare dc :(
