How to get fighting Chocobo?

I recall hearing it was around level 30 to 33.. after that I am not sure.

Is it a story line quest or one I can pick up just by going to the area where the quest is given out?

How does leveling it work, the types, etc.. :confused:

I believe you pick up that first quest My Little Chocobo at Tranquil

It's best to choose which class you want to level healer, defender or attacker and put any skill points into whichever one you choose. Once rank 10 you will receive barding for that class and also the option to go beyond rank 10. Obtaining levels after 10 requires a Tavainian Onion (or however you spell it) which can be expensive if your not into gardening.

I heard that the healing one was the best way to go.. is this true?

Close! My Feisty Little Chocobo, issued by Docette at Camp Tranquil (17, 28) in South Shroud. It's a level 30 quest.

Not really, it's personal preference. I've used a fighter type since day one and have only once or twice thought it'd be nice if he can heal. You can always buy an item to reset the points you allocated, so your decision isn't permanent.

Unfortunately, said item can run you a lot of gil, I think.

My personal recommendation is Healer, because it will massively extend your lifespan in some content (specifically FATEs which you may occasionally end up soloing).

As mentioned it's from a quest. Do main story, once you join a grand company that is your first gc quest

Whatever you go with, I suggest avoiding the tank choco. It's terribad at holding enmity, can't even keep mobs off me when I only autoattack.

Nope. That's just the regular chocobo license. He's asking about the ability to summon the chocobo into battle.
