Midgardsormr's Cutscenes
Hiya, I was recently playing the new patch content when things struck me as off.. I play with English subtitles but Japanese Audio, and while I read things I notice Midgardsormr continue to rant on. Not only that, but from the slight Japanese knowledge I have, I could tell that he was saying something else, similar but definitely different to the English text. I took to the internet and found this;
http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...ersus_english/
Which if you scroll down has a more accurate translation. I am slightly upset by this, because I rely on translations to help me understand what's being said, and in this case it was not helpful at all.
I was wondering (if you read this), why did you translate it as you did? and what does everyone else think about the translations? Thanks for reading this.

First of all: Comparing the text and voice-overs from different languages in a game is rarely a good idea for learning. The reason for this is that localization doesn't just involve translation of words, but also changing stuff to make it fit the language and the target audience better.
Secondly: This situation was discussed at length in this thread, but it eventually ended with it being closed. The later pages are basically just a bunch of people on both sides using the same arguments to prove their point over and over, like a broken record.
As for the reasoning behind the changes; you will find the answer Here.

Thanks, I didn't know about any of that!
