Downloadable Music Packs
I've read through the forums, and I see that many other users would like the option to be able to change the music in ARR. While I do not have that many problems with ARR's music (apart from it being really short and looping) I think many users would enjoy being able to listen to 1.0's music and/or music from earlier Final Fantasy games.
In another video game series,Atelier, the plus editions of the game come with different music packs from prior games so you can change the music when playing the game multiple times. I think something like that would work really well for ARR.
I have a feeling that if these packs are released as DLC then they would require users to purchase them off of the Mog Station or online at various retailers and the PSN. I am not opposed to paying for these transactions because I love video game music, and I think it's a shame that Uematsu's tracks are not being used that much in ARR.
Just some thoughts.
Thanks for reading :o

1.0 music playing while i battle?!?!?! or any FF battle themes. It'd be the ultimate fan service. i'm up for it.

Meanwhile Soken is shedding a tear reading this.

Well, Soken should be pretty happy considering that he's the sound director of ARR but I agree with you ;). His music isn't bad. I just wish it was longer and more varied!

I doubt it would even be possible - the main area themes in particular are specifically coded to fade in and out depending on the time of day and whereabouts the player actually is - this would mean any attempt to change that track would have to be specifically cued to do so, that would consume a lot of time and resources (this is also why they're not changing the original (pre level 50) dungeons to having looping BGM as well - their sound and backing music has been coded in a specific way into the game.
As much as I would love to hear some old 1.0 tracks that have not returned (such as the original Limsa Lominsa theme Navigator's Glory, I doubt very much this would ever occur sadly.
Also, what do you mean "Uematsu's tracks are not being used much?" Over half the soundtrack is either Uematsu's original 1.0 soundtrack reused (like the Ifrit battle theme Primal Judgement), or Soken remixes of older FF tracks (like the well-known remix of FFII's Battle I). I'm not being nasty here, I just think you need to listen to the game's soundtrack a little more closely. ;)

Even though I agree that the main background music won't be changed for the main areas, I love all of it by the way, I would love to see the music changed for each of the housing areas. What I mean is possibly keep the current music just for Mist as I think it fits that housing area perfectly. I would love to see new music added to Lavender Beds and The Goblet, which reflects those very different areas. I also hope that someday we can play music in our house or FC house. That would be a perfect place to have Final Fantasy music packs to play there. Of course the BGM would turn off as soon as you turned on what ever type of jukebox we would be using.

I'd love this to be a feature, that or just add addon support and we'll see if there's anyway to put in a soundmod (Similar to the old addon FinalFantasyLization that was on WoW, changing WoW's music to FF3 (6) FF4, FF5, etc.)
