I have full Foragers gear and all my gear from my FSH who has everything melded.
Only thing I do not have are the GP accs. How much would I need to have to feel comfortable? Do I need GP accs at all?

600 GP feels pretty comfy if you ask me
600 is good for most stuff, if you get higher you can use food to hit 650 but that's not really needed for the majority of the time.. well ever really but some people like it.
630 for most 1 star nodes + cheap mutton(?) stew from vendors for a few works like a champ.
Take it from me you DO want the iL55 right side fear.
If you can hit a stable 600 GP (ie 600 GP without food) you're golden. Being able to have 650 is "better" because you can throw in the extra +5% gathering success... but the investment difference necessary to stretch to that point is not worth it, imo

I'm 393 gathering and 387 percep, so with Spniach Quiche, I can mine them. But my GP is currently at 523. My Militia offhand is yet to be melded too.
may aswell try for hq if you meet the stats needed.
hit the node use the highest level hq chance skill, and then highest level of gather ability needed to hit 100% this will give you a guaranteed 5 strikes with a decent chance at hq per strike.
if you just want nq go with hitting the node then kings yield 2, you may miss a few times but youll get 3 per successful strike
This rotation needs at least 630 GP because it includes the +5% success rate; it also requires you to be lucky and HIT EVERY TIME!
Rotation is as follows
Hit Node to Reach > pop +30% HQ chance (300GP) > pop +5% success > hit node until you're back up to 300GP (4 hits IF started @630 GP)> +1 gathering attempt > Deep Vigor/Brunt Force @ Chain 4 for 100% success & HQ
