Maintenance

It is ridiculous that maintenance is always done during the same hours. I work second shift, so I can only play after work, from around midnight (central time) to 5 or 6 am. Just during this last month long period, tonight marks the tenth time that the game has been down during the only hours that I can play for maintenance. In what sense is it fair that someone like me, who can only play at night, is affected over and over again by maintenance, while say someone who plays in the afternoon, is virtually never affected? Wouldn't it make more sense to do it during a different set of hours every time, so that everyone is affected equally? And also on that note, how is it ok that out of a thirty day subscription, ten of those of those days so far have been cut for a night time player, but if I were to play during the day, I would get all thirty. It seems impossible that none of this has occurred to anyone over at square.

There's no way you could make it so it affects everyone "equally". SE can't make everyone happy you know.

In my case most maintenances happen while I'm still in college and i could see me ranting out just like the OP did if they decided to shift it to as soon as I'd get home.

Also lol over blaming SE for every single subscription day you've missed due to real life matters. I play during the day and get my nightly playtime cut, how exactly is that different?

Trying to turn subscription time into login time is an inane idea.

That's not what I said. And yeah, they can't make it so it affects everyone equally, so the answer to that is to choose one group and put it all on them? There's a better solution than that. And that's a ridiculous thing to say, that your "night time" playing time is cut? Bottom line is virtually no one plays the game all day every day. The vast majority play during set times depending one their schedule. Like, some people play during the day, because that's when they have time. And they know this, which is why they always do it at night because that's when the fewest people log in. You said yourself you'd be mad if maintenance happened every time right when you got home. Well that's exactly what they're doing to the people who primarily play during the time frame that I do. And subscription time does equate to log in time when they take the game down during the exact hours that you only have free to play.

I said it's not just me genius. Everyone who can only play at night gets screwed. If it happened during your playing hours you'd be saying the same thing.

I totally understand your frustration, it seems many can't seem to place themselves in "others shoes". That said, SE and any company running an mmo has to make a decision on what time to do needed maintenance on the servers. They usually try and determine a time that affects the least amount of players which is difficult since someone is going to get the shaft so to speak. I work a night shift now and there are times when I am on my day (night) off that I can't play due to maintenance. At least for me it is ok since there are other games or other things I can do during that time. I understand though if your time is limited, it is usually just one night a week though. I have learned not to keep playing every single day so I can do irl things that get so badly neglected, lol, and not feel I have to play every day.
