Duty Finder - Feedback and how to Improve

Hi,

Two things i'd like to mention regarding the duty finder and what can be done to improve the overall system.

1. Remove the "Join In-Progress" button

WHAT!? hear me out...

Not many people click this option, whenever I'm doing a dungeon and a Tank or Healer leave it's usually time to vote abandon because nobody will join us. I've lost count how many story dungeons i've done and I've had to ask an FC member to click the button and help out because the whole group has been waiting 30-40 minutes for a replacement.

What you could do (like other mmos) is make the normal dungeon queue to search for both NEW and IN PROGRESS, this will reduce queue times and help those stuck half way into a dungeon.

2. Remove the 5-minute timer for vote-kicking players

Nobody vote kicks early into the dungeon.. they have no reason to.

I joined a dungeon last night, tank left the minute he saw it was Qarn.... he forced a DC and we had to wait a full 5 minutes before we could vote kick, then we had to wait an extra 30-40 minutes for another tank to hopefully click "Join In-Progress" (see problem number 1)

i think these 2 situations could be discussed

I don't have any nice thoughts for this thread, but I thought I would mention that vote to kick players timer is 5 mins and not 15 mins, vote abandon is 15 mins by the way.

1) No. No. Nonononononono. If this were removed, then what would happen if people kept leaving in World of Darkness after not getting (or getting) their loot? That alone is enough of a reason to keep join in progress - and why are you waiting half an hour before asking your FC for help?

2) Would you rather get grouped with a premade then booted out literally within the first 5 seconds because they don't like you, your gear, or whatever? Besides, 5 minutes isn't really that long anyway.

cheers fixed, i guess waiting for someone to join "in progress" made it feel longer than it actually was.

Easy, if you leave a raid you should get a 30 minute debuff on Duty Finder.

But that already happens - yet people still leave.

Honestly, I've never had too much issue replacing people who drop. I mean, it depends on the class that drops and the dungeon, but I have only had to vote abandon maybe twice because we couldn't get a replacement :p

I am a tank, and I ALWAYS use the "join in progress" button. Anyone who dosent is not making the best use of duty finder and has no excuse for complaint. Can you answer me this? What will removing it do? If, as you say, no one is using it, then it makes no difference is its there. Also, are you trying to say that by ticking that box you ONLY join an in progress? because that's also false. I dont get an in progress party every time but I'm always welcomed when I do. Be removing it as an option and making it part of the normal function of queuing, it removes the ability for people to make sure they get a full dungeon run. Some people join a dungeon for a particular loot or for exp. and by joining in progress, they may miss out on the reason the queued in the first place.

your second issue is a problem with people, not the systems set in place. all you will have in its place is people behaving badly right off the start and asking you to kick them so they dont get a penalty. removing the vote kick timer will only make matters worse, not really fix anything.

I'm sorry you are having bad experiences in your game. to be totally honest, I have been playing since 1.0 and I can count on one hand the number of times that I've had a bad experience. The good far outweighs the bad and the way I see it, you get out what you put in so I always put in a positive attitude and a patient mind. i hope things improve for you. While things could be tweaked and changed regarding the duty finder, I don't think these are viable solutions. I could be wrong though, just putting in my two gil.

The sheer frequency of it renders most endgame content pointless to try unless you somehow clear it in one go.

Remove join in progress, no thanks. Many times tank has left for some reason or DCd and ive stepped out and rejoined as tank. Then gone on to clear.

Then adding it as you que and could get thrown into a new or in progress dungeon? No thanks, when I join without in progress selected, I want to do the full dungeon. Not get put into an empty dungeon that I entered just as the last person was leaving.

As it is I have the choice to guarantee a new run or to select the chance of an in progress. Which is fine, you are suggesting taking away that choice. Taking away options is bad, and you should feel bad for suggesting it.
