With the changes to the crafting system coming up, maybe now would be a good time to add material recycling to the game. In short, let us take apart finished items and in return we get most of our non-crystal materials back (75% or so).

I think materia is perty much for that.
Are you sure? I thought if you put materia on an item you can either get back the materia or the item, but not both. Likewise if I wanted to recycle a sword that has no materia for crafting items, no can do.
Materia system just doesn't seem that exciting the more I read about it. I hope i'm wrong. It just looks like the longer you use an item, you get materia for it. The materia can be used for stat bonuses. To me it just boils down to a gem like mechanic in wow or d2. Is there any solid information out on it?
So, when they're already reducing demand for materials, you want to increase the supply? >_>
