What's up with Lominsan anchovies?

With the latest update they jumped from 30 or so gil to the 700 - 800 range.

Something in the update, something common, something that I missed, must BURN through these fish.

What is it?

One of the delivery moogle quest requires one. 700gil for something that can be bought for 7gil? People sure are lazy... :eek:

I prefer stupid. Or perhaps intellectually lazy.

They're also used for crafting Fishmeals.

Even still, I get those from the merchant at our FC house for way less than that. That sounds like a ripoff no matter what the explanation is.

NPC sells fishmeal for 21 gil a piece. 96 pieces = 2016 gil.

Fire shards go for about 50gil a piece on my server (last I checked anyway). It takes 8 Fire Shards (400) + 24 Lominsan Anchovies (168) = 568 gil to get 96 Fishmeal via crafting (you get 12 Fishmeal per craft).

Fire Shards would need to cost 231 gil or above per piece on your server, for NPC fishmeal to be cheaper.
