[dev1016][dev1017][dev1076] Materia Weapons glow?

Okay so i was wondering if they do the Materia like as described in earlier note an threads from Yoshi will our weapons glow elemental color we choose or will it just be a boring normal?

I myself know its not hard to add that type of effect to an already made mesh you can add a illumination glow inside the model i know its possible but will it be done?

Or just make a particle generator an generate like at the same frame rate of the fire that's already in-game you know as soft body so it doesn't mess up with the physics let it trail a bit give it a nice texture, you guys are Square-Enix if anyone can make something look cool it's you .

In my own opinion i think something like this would bring some players back it would totally make me buy the game over again not only does your materia system make it feel more of a customizaion -hope i spelled that right- to add that type of look on it would be sweet or even for +equipments only of course some people could always turn off that glow effect if they want to i know its not hard the only time consuming development in this would be making the texture but you guys also have great artist i'm sure it can be done in 2-3days tops.

btw, glowing weapons don't bring any player back

They're not going to glow like radioactive PVC pipes if that's what you're asking. Though I think that thread ended on a note similar to "They'll be different, but nothing like you described"

At least I hope it did.

What the hell is this obsession with glowing weapons?

I really like the realism of XIV's weapons, they look like something you could actually use in combat, rather than "Mephisto's +9 Glowstick of Unending Doom"

i didn't say it had to be neon i also discribed that in a way it could still look real if they used the generator way an make some good texture ,
i didn't say it would alone bring players back but it's an idea of making something look cool, also on another note i don't play any other MMO's if its not final fantasy or Square-Enix made id just go back to my MLG gun games ,
i'm not trying to make this game into anything i've never played either so you can't say i'm trying to regaurdless if those games have that implemented thats cool the difference between those games an this one is Square-Enix can make things look real with low Poly costs thats what Normals are for those cartoonish game dont use normals its half the reason why Square-Enix has packed so much detail into a low poly models at the cost of alittle bit or either sculpting or modeling an re-modeling there models , on another fact Square-Enix showed the opening video where the taru casted fire into the archer's arrow as combo attack an as i'm sure some players thought that's how the game would look later on it didn't an i know for a fact many players bought the game for that reason

... You have got to be kidding me.

Materia adding a glow in combat? ... Meh maybe.. (as long as its subtle)
Materia added a glow to WS's? 000.. Ok, i could go for that..
Materia adding a glow all the time? . OH Hell NO!

It wont bring in players, just cos our weapons look like light sabers...
New effects/animations might help a little but not a huge amount.
But it will just be yet another step towards a middle of the road generic mmo in a market that is already over crowded with middle of the road mmos.

SE need (imo) to yes massively improve some areas and add content that feels like a FF, and make this a FF mmo.
It wont compete with the larger middle of the road mmos.
But a good MMO can do great in a smaller way. (EvE, DaoC (ok it was big ) is still running strong, FFXI)
