New retainer ventures

There is a new venture tier XVI available and I was wondering if it is worth it upgrading my botanist and miner retainers to fit the requirements. In 2.4 there was the fat cat fishers could get which sold for a lot of money. Has anyone gotten anything good from the new ventures so far?

Personally I'm not a fan of the fact that gatherer retainers were able to get items that combat retainers couldn't. That said, I don't like the fact that we have to meld materia for gatherer retainers to increase their ability to be useful.

I have 1 retainer that's a miner, and it can't go any farther than the lvl. 45 retainer ventures due to it's gathering stat. I am not wasting money to raise a retainer's stats, when it's not even worth it to raise my own Miner's gathering stats.

I feel it was a mistake to make one of my retainers be a Miner, but at the time I didn't know it functioned differently than the others. The rest are normal combat classes and actually have access to the lvl 80, 90 and 100 ventures.

My combat retainers should be able to get the same items if they are able to do the same tier of ventures as someone's gatherer retainer.

As for your question, I'll find out shortly but honestly I never got anything of use from the last one except a few retainer phantasias, and even those aren't really that useful. Retainers only seem to be useful for the Quick Ventures you put them on so they can get rare dyes... if you're lucky.

i sent my retainer out on one of the illvl 100 ventures before i logged off so im hoping for something good this time as they seem to give rubbish items then the hour ones

This. And only this bugs me about the ventures.

It's extremely expensive to hit the requirement of 420 gathering on both retainers because you either need a supra and/or perfectly melded gathering including lvl70 accessoires for higher melding caps. Besides, during the 16 hours venture you aren't able to use the equipment on your main char. I think there must be some very nice reward for it, otherwise, why implement it?
