Auto Targeting (tab)

Since the only feedback forum is for the website only i post this here:

Anyone else thinks the auto targeting should get a rework?
I mean, it's not really working like it should be.
If i am in a fight and press tab i expect the game to select the next nearest target infront of me, not a random mob 30m to my right.
Sometimes in a messy battle it's a pain in the *ss to target other monsters. If i try to click i end up clicking the wrong one or another player, but if i press tab i select every random mob within 3 kilometers.

Am i the only one who has so much trouble with it or did i miss a hidden option like "use intelligent targeting" ?

Imagine a vertical line in the middle of your screen dividing your view in half. The first target to the right of that line (at any range) will be the first selected target. Press again and the next to the right will be selected, and so forth till you run out of targets on the right side of your screen. At this point the first mob all the way to the left on your screen will be targeted.

How to manipulate this:
1. Pan up with your camera. Less distance on your view = less targetable things.
2. Zoom in a bit. Less area on your view = less targetabe things.

I do agree, however. There should be an option for near-to-far tab targeting.

I have the same issue as OP. I started playing only recently and tab targeting behaviour immediately struck me as something not working quite right. I played a lot of MMOs these past 10 years or so and I don't think I had this issue anywhere else. All of them had some sort of fuzzy logic frontal cone nearest to farthest logic. This is the first MMO where I am quite literally struggling to target what I want when I want.
I play with practically constant mouse look (ie right button pressed down) so falling back to mouse clicks is out of the question, I need a reliable targeting method. And having 4-5 keybinds to target things (ie default(broken) Tab, nearest, cycle enemity list...) is just wrong, how come in the other MMOs all I needed was 1 properly functioning Tab.

This is maybe the worst <tab> i have ever experienced in a mmo. It targets mobs out of range, left & right of the char or even BEHIND you...The filter option do nothing, its like they don't exist. It should be one of their top priorities for the next patch or at least for the expansion.

That should be the most important thing to fix but it's apparently not even acknowledged lol
