Behind the scenes

Some may laugh at this as a bizzar request but would anyone want to see how the game is made and whos behind it. We see most film releases have extra content showing behind the scenes not just of the actors but those that do the CGI, music, promotion etc. Before anyone says it yes they showed in Fan fest a bit of how the trailers were made and some of the artwork and sculptures, and see a few community members doing the beyond the adventurers guild, but can this be delved into deeper? You could say that little snippet has enticed me to want to know more.

So my questions to the communities team, and all those higher up that could provide this why not celebrate the game with some behind the scenes look at the following:- people involved, i.e. artists working, how lore is generated and agreed on, how the music is composed, voice acting, what size of server farm is used to run and store the content of millions of people, how do you plan for the fan fests, what decides how much you share at the live letter from the producer, how merchandise is designed and chosen etc.etc. Just a little thought with video games now outselling films with budgets to match they are becoming a large part of everyone's entertainment. Even if you add some snippets now and again as part of the Beyond adventurers guild posts.

Also see Live Letter from the Producer every couple months. They show cute little things at the beginning that if you don't watch it, you miss out!

Fanfest streams were CHOCK full of info showing behind the scenes development and the paid streams showed the special parts behind the scenes.

Also, head over to the Lore forum... there's some tasty development going on there :)

I talked to a GM the other day who came up with her name using Norse mythology. They really are pretty cool.

Thanks Meteos, wouldn't it be great if they included a behind the scenes DVD to go with the expansion pack! even if a special edition version only.

IDK if you saw fanfest or not but they showed this huge set (no pricetag yet) with additional stuff (maybe CDs?) in it. let me try to find a picture.

The old 1.0 European Collector's Edition had a 'making of' DVD that showed the old (Tanaka, pre Yoshi-P) development team and the FFXIV development offices, including the old server hardware! A funny thing featured is it showed one of the artists showing off a character model from the game he had literally just completed, which was Titan - ironic then that Titan was dummied out of 1.0 along with Leviathan (due to the Japanese earthquake in 2011 SE felt it was too insensitive to feature Primals that used earthquakes and tsunamis in the game after such a disaster), and thus it never actually was used.

Other than that, there are videos released on SE's official Youtube channel I think that give a look behind the scenes as well, but I think they're more general and not limited to the FFXIV team specifically.
