Character Scars - What's Your Story?

Getting the TLDR out of the way up front: If your character has a scar, how did they get it?

While attending some Eternal Bonding ceremonies lately, I noticed that quite a few players have opted to give their characters visible scars. This surprised me a little, and I can't help but wondering how their characters got the scars. All scars tell a story, and I'm curious to know what it is.

In games that allow character creation, I generally avoid scars because I feel like the interesting aspects of a character's life lies ahead them in the game, not in their past. There are, of course, good reasons why someone could have a scar but still be a low-skilled fledgling at the start of their in-game story.

Since I am not a legacy character, I had to decide what my character was doing when the Calamity struck. The scar my character bears upon his left cheek comes from that day when Bahamut wrought destruction upon the land. An explosion near Percimont knocked him from his feet, and he landed face down upon the ground, gashing his cheek in the process. The wound healed, but a scar remained.

The correct answer: I don't know but it makes me look badass.

tl;dr she got it when her teleportation gem exploded and a fragment sliced open her cheek and scratched her eye.

The story behind my choice of scars is that he was an unwanted child. His tribe never accepted him, and sometime in his childhood (this is just a light rp thingy I made up so no dates or anything) his father "branded" him by scaring him on each side on his face. This kind of branding was a sign that the individual was banished from the tribe, never to return.

Kitty has a single, thin scar on her cheek because, as it just so turns out, rabbits DO have claws, and WILL use them when cornered. Talk about learning that prey will fight back the hard way!

I made a back story for my char back in beta, must be posted somewhere, well my char got the scar when he was knocked right at the start of the Battle of Carteneau by a garlean soldier, yes... he did a great job.

It was a very immersed experience.

I always headcanon'd that my character was living the rough life before coming to Eorzea.

On some Island that was regularly accosted by pirates and monsters. Got the scar across his eye from one monster raiding the village, and the ones on his cheek from general clashing with ne'erdowells.

The scar on his eye left it discolored but functional. (I lined up the scar and colored the eye for that effect, rather than wanting some sort of heterochromia nonsense).


Joke was on me though, eyepatches can ONLY go on the side with his good eye! Alas, he will always be looking at people with his bad eye as well.
